Picture This #186 ~ Classical

I thought of architecture for this theme. I live in the New England States where there are many white churches with steeples. There was a Neo-Classical style that prevailed during the time these churches were constructed.
The first image is of a church in New Hampshire. I went on a field trip to photograph the lupine flowers.
The next image is the church steeple in Provincetown, MA.

There is an interior shot of one of Philadelphia's historic churches. This is Christ Church where some of our founding fathers worshipped .

  1. Hi Robert!! Lovely shots for this theme. The small church in the first shot, set amongst the lupins, is beautiful . Impressive steeple in the second shot. What is the tower just to the right of it? Lovely interior shot to finish.

Have you been hit really badly by the snowstorms where you are, Robert?

    1. Thank you. The tower to the right of the steeple is the Pilgrim Monument. The Mayflower dropped anchor on Cape Cod before sailing on to what is Plymouth.
We were hit badly with this blizzard. It's the most snowfall that I've ever seen. Southern New England was dumped on.

  4. Love the first shot with the contrast of the flowers. The outside photo of the steeple is very good and the inside of the church very tasteful

  7. I like your three photos, Robert! Love the architecture of the top one, the second is an interesting shot.... two towers, different styles and perhaps of two different building purposes... the interior of the church is very inviting to meditation...

    1. Thank you Belita. I tried to crop the tower out of the photo. I'm glad that you commented on the different styles. The church's interior is worthy of a blog entry. The history is incredible.

  9. oh wow, I simply love old churches, you are so lucky to live close to some.

In Denmark, we have old churches going right back to before 1000 ! Unbelievable but I remember seeing the church date on the old one where my grandparents were buried saying 980AC or something like that. Wish I had some photographs from there.

Your shots, ooooze history and beauty and peace. Well done, Robert.
