Picture This #312 - Your Favourite Recent Photos Of 2015

Thanks for hosting Debby and congratulations to Randall for the lights in the sky.

After an adventurous week travelling by train to Germany for my son's wedding, I am back and ready to go. I noticed now the new Flickr html embed system, but within an hour or so I soon discovered how to change the codes so that it is now back to how it was (not without complining to flickr that it is better not to mend things that are not broken.

As my photo mostly revolved around the wedding and the River Mosel area of Germany, my choices were not difficult.

Let us begin with the church where my son and now daughter-in-law were married, the Klosterkirche, Spriengiersbach.
The Wedding

When the word "Kloster" arrives in German it means that somewhere monks and nuns are included. I managed to sneak this photo of the monk that married my son before he dressed up in his wedding clothes before the actual marriage ceremony in the church. Looks like he was having a practice with the hand movements.

A boat on the River Mosel with the vineyards in the background. The whole area is vineyards and the river with small villages in between.

The grapes are now half way there. I wish I could be there in September/October when they have the harvest and the celebrations.

  2. Hi Pat!! Glad to see you back from your journey to Germany. We had identified a problem with the Flickr embed codes last week, as it was putting an unwanted frame around each shot. Benni worked out how to get rid of that, but then this week Flickr changed it again so that the info previously in the border/frame now showed overlayed on the image. It's simple enough to get rid of, but a damned nuisance all the same!!! All wonderful shots for this week's theme. Lovely church in your first photo. I really like your candid capture of the monk in the second shot. I wasn't aware that monks performed marriage ceremonies!! Beautiful shot of the Mosel vineyards, with the boat passing through. Looks like it will be a good crop this year, judging by your final photo!!

  6. Hi Pat! Belated congratulations for your son's wedding...Best wishes for a happy and long married life.
The church is a nice one, the monk, as Deb mentioned, seems to be conducting a choir, vineyards and a river always make a very nice composition, particularly your shot with the boat sailing that adds value to the shot... Harvests and their related celebrations always bring a whole lot of fun...
