Picture This #353 ~ Abandoned Places

Magnificent banner. Stormy sea and sky, and yet peaceful.

Old stone grill
An abandoned wood stove in the woods. Animals spend the winter in there.

Whelk egg case
Found on the beach, this is a whelk (sea snail) egg case.

Birdhouse
Abandoned bird house. Happily it has been repaired and has a sparrow family living in it again.

  2. Nice choice of shelter

    Amazing piece of natural art

Maybe it will find a second life at some future date.

  3. Hi Benni !! Lovely shots for this week's theme. Love that first shot, was it originally used for barbeques? Any idea what kind of wildlife shelter in there? That second shot is fascinating, such a weird-looking structure. I'm glad the bird-house in the final shot has been 'renovated' and is once again occupied!!

    1. I am not sure what that stone structure is. It has a grill and a place to put wood/coal. Raccoons and opossoms winter in there.

  4. Three great photos. Love the abandoned stove and I am sure it is a good place for animals to keep safe during the Winter. Very interesting "egg case" never seen one before, and a great photo subject. I like the bird house. Although we have plenty of sparrows here I have never seen their nests: very Interesting.
