Picture This #428 ~ Many Faces Of Winter

Days are getting shorter in the northern hemisphere and temperatures are dropping. A theme about winter is appropriate and, as Heidi says, winter has many faces. There's more than just snow.

Thank you for putting my pomegranate as the banner shot. As always, I am honored.

Squirrel house
Icy yews surround a squirrel house.

Footprints
Little paw prints in blue-looking snow.

Frost
Frosty window.

Brohard Dog Beach
Even Florida has wintry days when the sky is grey and the wind blows off the sea.

  1. Hi Benni !! great shots showing different faces of winter. Was there a squirrel hibernating in that box? Or do they leave before winter? Cute little (feline?) prints in the snow. I have one of bird prints in the snow somewhere but couldn't find it in my archive. Fantastic capture of the frost patterns on the window. I bet those Florida wintery shots are few and far between. Talking of which, it must be getting on for that time when you head off in that direction!!

    1. There was indeed a squirrel in the house. She had taken it over from the bird it was intended for. It might be her paw prints in the snow. They go out on warm days to look for food and on cold days eat nuts which are stored in their nests. I'm glad you enjoyed the shots.

  2. Some good shots. Like the squirrel house. I think our squirrels hide in Winter. Interesting footprints in the snow. Fascinating patterns of frost on the window.Somehow I do not think you would find anyone walking barefoot in Switzerland in Winter, you would probably get frostbite.

  6. Benni, I look at these four shots and my favourite swings among them all... cute squirrel house... love the simplicity of the second shot... the leaf colour against the snow... the paw prints perhaps of a deer make it be a very interesting shot ... excellent idea of placing the blue bottle before the frosty window .... Brave family and dogs...
