Hiker in Spain - White is not a common colour among walkers. I wondered she was a Moslem and for some reason white colour has a special symbolism that I ignore...

Picture This #380 ~ Whites And Lights

Congratulations to Heidi for that great banner photo - really spectacular. And thanks for hosting Benni with such a good theme.

Sitting in the car whilst Mr. Swiss was driving off to the shops yesterday I did a random photo just as we were leaving our estate. There was frost on the ground from the night before with temperatures around 0°C and the sun was shining. What could be better. Nothing spectacular, but it captures the theme.

I also have my snow photo, although I has not snowed since beginning November when I took the photo from my back garden.

In the local parking house you get all sorts of lights and whites.

And as it is the Christmas season, let us not forget the mistletoe with its white berries.

Many thanks to Benni for hosting this week, with another great theme!!  Should get some great variety of colour and tone with this one. I tried to get as much variety into my shots, so two weather-based ones, a flower and an animal. 

1) New Forest pony, interrupted while having a drink.

2) Snowflakes are dancing around this abandoned farmhouse in the Welsh village of Llandeilo.

3) Pale perfection in Upton House Gardens.

4) Sailing in a sea-mist. The Needles lighthouse, Isle Of Wight in the background.

Hi, here I am, hosting this week's Picture This. Marvelous banner shot by Heidi, wonderfully dramatic portrayal of "Distance". On to this week's theme...

If you have ever been to a store to buy house paint, you'll have noticed there are many shades of white. One can get ivory, eggshell, pearl, and many other creatively named colors that are variations on plain old white. So that is my theme: pictures with white or shades of colors that are light in color. Don't get stuck worrying if your picture is light enough. Have fun and show us whites or lights. Here are mine:

Many thanks to Pat for hosting this week. A very good theme, we should see lots of great photos!! Of course, many of my 'distance' shots were taken in the American south-west, but I did find an old favourite taken in Wales, too.

1) Devil's Bridge Falls in the distance, Wales. 

2) On the road in Utah, with Zion National Park in the distance.

3) Las Vegas strip and the Stratosphere Tower in the distance.

4) You can see far into the distance from almost any point in Bryce Canyon, Utah.

Picture This #379 ~ Distance

Pat, the Angloswiss correspondent reporting from Switzerland. Saturday morning is too hectic for me to post, so you are getting it on Friday evening. It is a wonder I am here. Blogger has joined the clan of "let's do something new" but after a few minutes I found where I should go. Why do they repair that stuff that is no way broken?

Anyhow, themes are becoming rare, so I snag them sometimes from my WordPress challenges and this one is Distance. Do your own thing with it.

This is a sunrise from my garden last week. I can now do sunrises because we had daylinght saving time and now I am up in the morning to watch it all happen. Otherwise I am a sunset sort of person.

It wasn't a bird, or superman, so it must be a plane. I heard it and took a shot, just a speck in the distance.

I had to leave Mr. Swiss at the parking in the supermarket to put the stuff we bought into the boot of the car. I had more important things to do, like taking a photo of the alps from the parking house. It is not often that  you can see them so clearly. There was a special wind blowing "föhn" and so there was a clear sighting.
