CONGRATULATIONS, BAZ, FOR THE VERY NICE PHOTO BANNER!
Hi all PT fellows! Belita here and I’ll be your host for this week. Whenever I travel outside Portugal, I always send postcards to a few friends. Nowadays, people seldom open their conventional mailboxes and find cards from friends, relatives, etc. So, I have chosen the theme ‘Looking like a postcard’. This is a theme with endless possibilities: animals, flowers, street scenes, means of transport, etc, etc.

Here is my selection for you...
A street scene (Riga)
Klaipeda (Lithuania's 3rd largest city)
Hi Belita, what a wonderful and creative theme!! I am excited.
ReplyDeleteYour picture of Riga is beautiful, from the bridge to the spires into the clouds. I love the street scene with the taxis, so many shades of brown and of course the interesting people. Is that a canal in Klaipeda? The boat is wonderful and the people fishing. Very much like a postcard. I had never heard of this city before. My favorite is the women in the folk costumes. The clothing is lovely and the facial expressions so interesting that I want to move closer to hear what they are talking about. Reminds me of my husband's mother and aunts.
Thanks, Benni! Klaipeda is Lithuania's only seaport and that is a canal.
DeleteWonderful captures Belita its 20 years since I was in Riga your pictures bring back many memories. What a great idea for a theme as well. Also thanks to Mitch for my image on the header this week ;)
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, Baz!
Deletehi belita, lovely captures of a fascinating town
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nico!
DeleteHi Belita!! Many thanks for hosting this week!! A really good theme!! Your shots are all super. I really like the contrast between the new bridge and the old town in the first shot. The Riga street-scene in the second shot is almost a natural sepia-tone. Beautiful old sailing ship in the third shot. Very colourful costumes in the final shot. Is that the national costume of Lithuania?
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, Mitch! I am not sure but I suppose so. I took the photo on the day Lithuania was celebrating the 25th anniversary of the so-called Baltic Way...
DeleteReally something completely dirfferent and they are all good in their own right but I particularly like the street scene in Riga. So something completely different and the tones of the photo suit the subject so well.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, Pat!
DeleteWonderful theme and beautiful examples, Belita. You picture perfect postcards make me wish I were there. I especially love the Lithuanian ladies.
