Picture This #345 ~ Got it!!

Hi and welcome to Picture This. Wonderful banner shot by Belita.  Magnificent colors!!

Sometimes we take pictures and are delighted when they turn out the way we hoped they would. These shots put a smile on our faces and a wish to show them around. The theme this week is pictures which you might be extra proud of, pictures that you had to work to get, or pictures which were happy accidents. Maybe you've posted these before, but feel free to post them again. I suppose another way of putting this theme is "Favorite Pictures", but I went with "Got it!" which is how I feel sometimes when I've been working to get a shot of a tough subject.

And of course, remember what I always say: the theme is not important. Having fun showing us your pictures is the main thing.

This is Tucker who ran after a ball many times so I could get this shot.

I was finally able to get a picture of these challenging flowers.

A P-51 Mustang, a harder capture than I had thought. Fortunately there was an airshow, so I had plenty of chances.

Spring is already in the air, here in Lisbon, and this weekend has been so warm that I played golf wearing short sleeves....

Hope you like my Spring flowers, though I can't tell you the respective names, hydrangeas excluded. However, I believe you are knowledgeable enough about flower names.

Many thanks to Heidi for hosting this week. A lovely theme, although it has come a little too early for where I live. Apart from a few snowdrops and daffodils, there's nothing much happening here yet. So,  I'm going to post Spring flowers from previous years. 

Here are mine:

1) Backlit white Daffodil.

2) Spring Phlox, with a visiting friend.

3) Magnolia, a Spring favourite of mine.

4) Early-flowering Clematis.

It is still a little too early for our spring flowers as we had a slow down with some frost weather over the last week or so, although I now have one daffodil in the garden, 3 anemones which still have buds and some tulips which are still stalks. Of course the snowdrops have been flowering for some time.

Let's start with my lent roses, or whatever they are called. They are the first to flower in my garden already in February and are still flowering now. There is the white variety, of which I have one plant, called the Christmas Rose.

I do have a few crocus that decided to brave the way out of the cold ground.

Here is a daffodil, from last year. This years are still thinking about it.

Primula are the first we see flowering.

I do not know what these wild flowers are, but are one of the first to see flowering along the banks of the local river.

Hi everyone! I'm a bit late, which comes of eating too spicy a bowl of chili Friday night. I love the banner picture by Belita, such a beautiful scene, so nostalgic for me. Here are my pictures, a little adventuresome.

Stairs in the courtyard of my brother's office building.

Ripples in the sand look like stairs, maybe.

Steps going down to the pool, with an orange floating tube.

There they are, as the Russians say: "лучше поздно, чем никогда" or "Better late than never."

Now let me show you very uncommon stairs, in Polignano (Puglia-Italy). The poem 'Passer-by' is written on the steps. Sin beyond any sin is the sin of blindness of souls to other souls and joy beyond any joy is the joy of realizing the good we have seen, and seeing the good at the miraculous moment! Edgar Lee Masters (1868–1950), American attorney, poet, biographer, and dramatist. I was told the house owner changes the poem from time to time...

Many thanks to Pat for hosting this week. A great theme, with lots of possibilities. I don't have ANY photos of lifts (elevators) or escalators.....but I do have LOTS of shots of various stairs!! So much so, I had a hard time deciding which ones to use!!

Here's mine:

2) A straight-up perspective of the steps to the top of a modern mobile phone repeater-tower.

Hello everyone - Pat calling from Switzerland with my theme of the week. I was going to include "beaming up" but that is not so good to take a photo.

I took this photo whilst shopping last week. I have to rely on lifts at the moment, since my accident, although I can now walk without support. Actually Mr. Swiss wanted to move on, but I told him I must take a photo of the mechanics of the lift in the supermarket. I don't think he was very happy about it.

Here is a photo from 1984, before the days of digital cameras. We were in London paying a visit to the Natural History Museum in South Kensington and this is my son, now 46 years old, on the staircase of the museum.

This was the escalator in our supermarket a couple of years ago. It has now been replaced.
