Picture This #239 ~ Four Seasons

I'm sorry that I contributed my images later this week. Congratulations to Randall for his great shot of the bird getting the worm. Good choice for this week's banner. It's another week of cold weather here.
So glad that Anders selected Spring as this theme's start up. We need to think of Spring.

Picture This #239 ~ Four Seasons

Wonderful theme, Anders!! Perfect for me. Randall, what a magnificent shot of that robin. It's great.

I am struggling with bad internet so will post only 2 pictures, and come around when I can and comment on yours. I know there are some great ones.

For me, after polar vortices in the northern US and then our annual trip to Florida, there are only 2 seasons.

I will be around and look at seasons where you are. Promise.

PICTURE THIS #239 ~ FOUR SEASONS

Ok sticking to the birds and well kind of like the bees. Here is winter, spring, summer and fall. Looking through my little peep hole.

First winter

Then what we are now waiting on, SPRING.

Now onto summer. A little smaller of a beast so to speak.

Then back to that time when the watchers come back and keep the fires burning, even when there really is no heat. Just waiting till the next turn of the seasons.

And that is my four takes on the seasons. Now off to see yours.

FOUR SEASONS

a difficult topic as South African  weather don't change that much during seasons,
at least not here on the Highveld though.
We have summer rains and winter drought,
but most of our trees are evergreen.
So I went a bit out the box with this one, please do bear with me:

Thanks for hosting Anders.

I ventured into the garden this week to take a few Spring photos. This is nothing spectacular, but shows how the crocus venture to poke their heads through towards the end of February.

Many thanks to Anders for hosting this week. Great theme, there should be lots of fabulous photos posted for this one!! I think the idea is.......if you have a photo for each of the 4 seasons, then post them, but if you don't......then any combination of seasons you DO have will be ok!!

Here's mine:

1) Spring ~ When the lambs are playing in the fields.

2) Summer ~ Eating ice-cream at the beach.

3) Autumn ~ Leaves are turning on the trees.

Great banner, Randall. "Life is a drag for worms."

Hi all PTers! This is Anders and I'm your host this week. My theme is The Four Seasons. We're in the beginning of Spring and even though it's a bit tepid - the temps are rising and the snow is gone, a fact that I'm glad of!! Hope you'll enjoy this challenge. Looking forward to your entries.

I took this shot one Spring day on a trip around my village.
1

In the background you see Vrams Gunnarstorp, a castle that lies in the mid north of Scania. The castle garden was blooming this Summer day on our visit.
2

Taken at a visit to the Sofiero Castle Garden. The Fall pallor lies heavily on the surroundings.

This shot was taken one snowy winter-evening.

Picture This #238 ~ BIG!!

I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date ...........always running ............

Such a lovely banner shot, Baz, great theme Mitch
had me thinking all week and then panicked
when realised is now Friday already.

BIG 5 is what comes to my mind, we don't have big buildings or big statues or big trees or big rocks or
maybe we do but I don't have a picture handy.
So bear with me please as per usual *winks* while I hasty throw you some BIG.
The big 5 was originally named that by hunters, not by size
but by difficulty to hunt on foot, the term has been adapted by Tourism in Africa.

Big 5 is African Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Rhino (white or black), Lion and Leopard.
I only hunt with my camera these days .......

..........here is my BIG:-
BIG 5 - Elephant

BIG 5 - Buffalo

BIG 5 - Rhino

BIG 5 - Lion

I do not have a photograph of a Leopard, though I  have often seen them, this photo was the elusive invisible Leopard of Kruger Park, we spend an hour watching him move, stretch, eat in the days of our first 5x zoom digital camera. Only when home did we discover on the PC screen , just flecked bark. At least we can laugh at ourselves. *smile*

Big- The famous Leopard Tree

Have a wonderful weekend and keep on "Picture This"

Lots of Love

Picture This #238 ~ BIG!!

Congratulations to Baz for his photo selected for this week's banner.
I like the theme chosen for this week. BIG holds many possibilities.

Here is what I selected.

The northeastern part of the States has been bombarded with 13 snowstorms since the beginning of the winter season. Here is a photo of two tables on my patio. We're not dining outdoors this season.

My next photo is a landmark in the heart of the Yale University Campus. This is the Harkness Tower. It has a carillon that plays daily. It's a good example of neo-Gothic architecture.

I thought of several subjects that will match our theme. I found this image of the battleship USS Olympia docked in Philadelphia. This battleship was commissioned during the Spanish-American War. You see the comparison next to the submarine.
