Picture This #237 ~ Flowers

Thanks for hosting Heidi, a common theme but not had for some time unfortunately. Just the time for flowers to brighten the days.

I am an orchid person. I have a table full as well as beneath the table in the living room, although at the moment they are thinking about flowering. Here is one that was still flowering.

Orchids
When I visit the local supermarket I have the habit of taking photos of interesting flowers. I saw this lily.
White Lily
My mum always called these Red Hot Pokers and we only really saw them in seaside places in England, so I decided I must have one in the garden. It seems the correct name might be Kniphofia.

  1. Hi Pat! What a lovely phaeleonopsis (out on a limb with the spelling here) you have. You must have quite a green thumb to get them to bloom! The picture of the lily is also stunning with the purple and white. And finally I love the Red Hot Poker, a nice shot.

  4. All are beautifully exotic looking. Orchids are not easy to grow, you must have a green thumb! I am partial to the white and purple lily...never seen purple and white!

  6. Hi Pat!! Three fabulous shots for Heidi's theme. The orchid in the first shot is a real beauty. I've just been visiting my parents, and my mom has the exact same orchid in her kitchen. I was experimenting photographing it in different light. Haven't unloaded them from the camera yet though. The lily in the middle shot is stunning!! I have always known the flower in the third shot as 'Red Hot Poker', too.

  7. Three stunning shots. The only time I saw in person those Red Hot Pokers was at the Madeira Flower Festival. They were of different colours, yet all beautiful...

  8. These are great, Pat! Love the lily and the purple specks. Very unusual. Pretty orchids and the Red Hot Poker. Good name. We have those at the Botanic Garden here in Brooklyn.
