Hi all!
This week, it's me, Belita, who is at the helm of our PT Challenge.
'Once upon a time...', though it is one of the most well known, cliched openings to fairytale stories, I thought it is a theme that might give all of you plenty of chances to post very interesting pictures. I look forward to seeing your wonderful contributions.
Thanks!
Once upon a time, this was an open-air drying factory where codfish was processed prior to being put on the market. Mind you, Portuguese recipes normally use dried and salted codfish.
Once upon a time, there was a woman, member of the Miao ethnic group, a subculture in China, who showed up at a party wearing a load of silver jewellery on her head... all handmade!!!
Once upon a time, there was a black-winged stilt (?) that left all his mates to pursue his dream of exploring unknown wetland...
Hi Belita!! Many thanks for hosting this week. A great theme you've chosen, it should get lots of interesting shots. What an interesting first photo. If you had not described what it was, I would never have guessed it's purpose!! Lovely colourful second shot. Looks like that silver has gone to her head!! Love that last shot of the bird exploring by himself. He seems to be wondering what to do next.
ReplyDeleteThanks for using my photo of my 3rd grade Portuguese language book as this week's banner, Mitch! The shut-down of those facilities happened twenty years ago and that is all that remains nowadays. I don't know how that woman could carry such heavy head adornment and keep smiling... I took the bird shot, last Saturday, when I went on a Birding day at the Nature Reserve of the Tagus Estuary, one of the most important wetlands for birds in Portugal.
Deleteoh Belita a wonderful theme yours are cool llove them all will be back
ReplyDeleteThanks, Heidi!
DeleteHi Belita fantastic images as usual to get us started on a wonderful theme ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Baz! Thanks for your kind comments. Happy to know you like my choice of theme...
DeleteInteresting theme, Belita with lots of possibilities! Love your banner shot!
ReplyDeleteinteresting shot of the fish drying factory. I've never had dry salted cod before.
I just adore the creativity and talent that went into that hat! Amazing! Gorgeous, colorful photo!
Love the bird shot and anything to do with nature, but that lady's smile is so charming that it makes that shot my favorite!
Many thanks, Deb!
DeleteCongratulations on the header. Who would have thought your school books would one day be famous. A very good theme and a good opportunity to find some memories of the past. Love your choices.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Pat!
DeleteHi Belita, beautiful picture for the banner! And a great theme. How interesting that they dried and salted the fish outside. Makes for a very good picture. I love the headpiece on the Miao woman, I would like one for myself but she looks so happy in it. My favorite is the beautiful bird, and his reflection, in the colorful wetland. I hope he finds a tasty fish.
ReplyDeleteHi Belita, thank you for providing the background on the first photo. We are all part of the Mediterranean culture. The Italians called salted codfish baccala and the Spanish call them baccalao. I love the headpice on the Miao woman. Great capture of the stilt and how clever to adapt the bird into your theme "Once upon a time."
ReplyDeleteThanks all for the kind comments!
