  1. Congratulations to Benni on her beautiful banner shot. Thinking of sunflowers warms my heart this morning. We are at a frigid 14 degrees with a wind chill of -1 degrees. Brrrrrrrrr...I dread having to walk the dog this morning!

  2. Hi Debby! Very good theme...I like it as much as I like the three shots I see on here. Perfect for the theme of your choice....Notre Dame at its best... Cool sculpture of the three bears..do they have some special significance like the three wise monkeys? Beautiful carousel in the bottom shot.

  3. Hi Belita! Thank you!

On the Group of Bears: This bronze sculpture by Paul Manship (1885–1966) depicts a group of three bears on a circular stepped pedestal. Located at the Pat Hoffman Friedman Playground at Fifth Avenue and 79th Street, the piece was a gift from Samuel N. Friedman in memory of his wife, Pat. The piece was cast in 1960 and unveiled on October 11, 1990 at the playground’s dedication.

Smaller versions of the piece are featured on part of the William Church Osborn Gates (1952) and the elaborate Paul J. Rainey Memorial Gates (1933) found at the Bronx Zoo, and in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Manship’s most famous work is the gilded Prometheus (1934), located at the west end of the lower plaza of Manhattan’s Rockefeller Center.

  4. There are so many facets of Notre Dame, but that is a very good capture. New York is always good for something artistic and I love the bears as well as the carousel.

Notre Dame is such an imposing building, which your B&W treatment has made even more impressive!! I love that sculpture of the bears!! Lookout Goldilocks!!! LOL. Lovely carousel in the third shot. Is it fully enclosed?
