Picture This #195 ~ Tunnel Or Arch

I have some images for arches taken while we were in Arizona in 2010. The first image is from the interior of one of the buildings in a mission. The image above the arch is a symbol of the local Native American tribe, Tohono O'odham.
The next arch was shot while we were on the Navajo Reservation.
Now to return to the East Coast, the locale is Newport, Rhode Island. This trellis is on the property of Rosecliff, one of the historic mansions.

  1. Hi Robert !! I'm just having coffee before I set off on my trip to the US, so just time to look at your photos. Three excellent shots for the theme!! Love that first one, I like the clear lines of the building and the Native American symbol is fascinating. Lovely trellis in the third shot, makes me try to visualise what the mansion is like.

    1. Hi Mitch, I thought you would already here in the States. Thanks for your comments. I don't know how extensive you're traveling in Arizona. The mission is south of Tucson. When I turned and looked towards that hallway I was fascinated by the symbol and the perspective. Rosecliff Mansion is one of my favorites. It's architecture is copied from one of the palaces in France.

    1. Thanks, Pat. I love the symbol above the entrance and the painted murals on the sides of the wall. It was unfortunate that when we toured the mansion the roses weren't in bloom. I hope someday to return when they are blooming on this trellis.

  3. Robert, if we ever have a theme "Maze" you will have a perfect picture for it. The picture of the mission interior is breath-taking. I love the other arches as well, from the red blocks of the Navaho to the white and green of Rhode Island. Wonderful.

  5. Wow, strange symbol in the first. I've never seen that one before. Cool shot, besides. I love the plants painted on the two walls.

I'll bet that second arch is lovely when all of the leaves are in their fullness of the season.

The last one is my favorite. I'd love to have that in my garden, if I had a garden now, which I don't. : ( I love the Ionic Columns!
