Picture This #224 ~ Quirky

Many thanks to Danette for hosting this week's challenge. She's come up with a great theme, I'm looking forward to seeing the odd, strange or unusual things folks have photos of!!

Here are mine:

1) Funky Cat. You'd think this guy would live in or near a kid's playground? No, I found him at the Lowell Astronomical Observatory in Flagstaff, AZ!!

2) Back To Bass-ics. I saw this quirky wooden sculpture at the National Botanical Gardens, Wales.

3) Cool Dude. This guy can be found outside Crusoe's shop in Saundersfoot, Wales. Each Spring and Summer he wears a different hat and clothes.

  2. That cat is quirky and way cool. The wooden man with the bass... had few man hours involved (unless he was a chainsaw sculpture) either way he is fantastic! The last shot is a cute little guy in an odd and quirky way. All three are great shots for the theme!

  3. Hi Mitch, first thank you for choosing my photo for the banner. I am very honored.

I understand astronomers are known for quirky sense of humor, so I find your blue cat right at place at the Lowell Observatory. The ring around his eye is a nice touch. Then the wooden bass-ist: very unique. Was he sculpted from the tree upon whose base he sits? And the cool dude is cool! Quirky, but very cool. I wonder about the yellow flower pinned to him. Three great shots.

    1. Thanks Benni :-)) I don't think the wooden sculpture was carved from a single tree-trunk. There appears to be at least two different types of wood in the sculpture. The yellow flower pinned to the t-shirt of the 'cool dude' is a daffodil. That shot was taken just after St David's Day. St David is the patron saint of Wales, and the daffodil is the traditional symbol for it.
