Hello, I searched through my photos and could only find one image that suits this theme. I thought it would be interesting to enter two shots of the same subject.
This was once a pier in Provincetown, MA. The first photo was taken in 2008. When I returned this summer I found that pier exactly as it was five years ago. They just leave it there. Don't know the significance of the pier. There was a theater built on a wharf in the early part of the 20th century. Some of America's great playwrights (Eugene O'Neill and Tennessee Williams) performed here and began their drama writing career.
So maybe this pier could be a testament to that era.

Hi Robert!! It's good to see you back taking part. I hope you are fully recovered now? It is interesting to see comparison shots of the same place separated by several years. It's definately showing more wear and tear than in the earlier shot. I guess it's been buffeted by some of those nor'easter storms you get over that way.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mitch. You're probably right about the wear and tear caused by the storms.
DeleteWonderful duo of shots
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's never too late to congratulate you on the selection of your photo. Great shot of the fireworks. Thanks for your comment on my shots.
DeleteGreat shot of the old pier. The birds seem to be enjoying it as a roosting area. I love the bottom shot with the one blue boat. Impressive.
ReplyDeleteThanks Debby. I got creative keeping the color of the boat when I converted to black and white.
DeleteThat is fantastic to see both pictures of the same place. The pier has indeed deteriorated yet retains a stark beauty.
ReplyDeleteHi Benni. I'm glad that you do see the stark beauty of the pier. Thanks.
DeleteRobert, I like to see the same place at different times...Seagulls seem to prefer the most recent version of the pier, yet it's deteriorated... Very creative editing in the second shot... the blue boat adds a special beauty to the already beautiful shot.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Belita. I'm pleased that you appreciated the two shots of the same subject. The blue boat does add to the shot.
ReplyDeleteThat is just lovely, could say ode to a pier. I hope they never remove it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they intend of removing it. They will just let storms demolish it. Thanks, Pat.
