Good morning and welcome from a VERY wet Wales this Saturday morning. Has been torrential rain since 7pm Friday evening, it's now 9am and the rain has just stopped!! Many thanks to Benni for hosting this week. A nice easy challenge for you all this week, so NO excuses for not taking part!!! LOL.
Last Saturday (26th July) was the first time I've gotten out with my camera for several weeks. It turned out to be a great day for one of my favourite subjects; insect macros!! Here's a small selection of the shots I got.
1) Hoverfly on a Gaillardia flower.
2) Curious grasshopper.
3) Fly on a Sea Holly flower.
4) Bee, also on Sea Holly flower.
Absolutely fabulous macros.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anders :-))

ReplyDeleteI didn't realise I'd forgotten to put ti up on the banner til i saw your comment about Debby's banner....I was thinking.....huh? that was last week!!! LOL.
DeleteHi, Mitch, stunning macros as always. The hoverfly grabs my attention right away against the bright colors of the Gaillardia. Love the grasshopper, looking curious, and the hospitable holly flowers.
ReplyDeleteThanks Benni :-)) I really like the colours in the Hoverfly shot, too. The Grasshopper did really seem curious. He was just sitting on a stalk of grass not moving, but when I put the camera lens close by, he turned, moved forward and stared into it!! LOL.
DeleteAbsolutely fantastic shots
ReplyDeleteThanks Nik :-))
DeleteWOW! these are all incredibly wonderful shots, Mitch! My favorite is the first because it is so colorful.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how even the grasshopper's eyes look camouflaged. I've never seen one up this close before!
Thanks Debby :-)) Yes, unlike many of the flying insects, the grasshopper's eyes appear to have the same pattern as the rest of it's body.
DeleteHi Micth! I can't find words in my vocabulary to tell you how much I love these four awesome shots..
ReplyDeleteThanks Belita :-))
DeleteI have always thought the creatures in your photos pose for you Mitch and no one takes better Macros shots better than you.
