Many thanks to Heidi for hosting this week's challenge. I was presented with something of a problem when I saw the theme. I have no children of my own, never had any. And I don't have any close relatives with children, either. Although I've done candid photos of people many times, I've never taken candid shots of children, it could be misinterpreted!!
I had decided that I couldn't take part this week.....but then it hit me!! Thinking laterally........there's no stipulation in the theme that it has to be only human children. So why not 'non-human' children?
So, I present you with ..........bird children!! LOL.
1) Nap Time. This Shelduck chick was starting to doze off even as he was paddling along in the water.
2) Dinner Time. A Moorhen feeds it's chick.
3) Play Time. Just like human children, ducklings like to play in the mud!!
Oh how wonderful!! That little Shelduck baby is as cute as I have seen. What an amazing picture. Also astonishing is the Moorhen feeding her chick. I've seen birds feeding their young, have never got a capture. Yours is superb! The ducklings on the bottom look like they are lined up for inspection and I am afraid the one on the bottom will not pass muster in the cleanliness department. I love your interpretation of this theme.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for putting my little flower vase up top as the banner, what an honor.
Thanks Benni :-)) The Moorhen feeding the chick was a difficult shot to get. I had seen her taking seed to the chick, but it would grab it really quickly. I picked a spot and sat there for some time, just focused on the general area where they were 'meeting' and then snapped away when mom arrived with another seed.
DeleteWonderful photos - love the little chick - the hungry one. Indeed they do.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anders :-))
DeleteWonderful Mitch and great out of the box thinking love to watch these little guys play thanks a million
ReplyDeleteThanks Heidi :-))
DeleteI see you had similar problems to me with the theme choice. I also do not really like taking candid photos of children, some people could react negatively. What a good idea for your photos. I think the first little duck was going for his first swim, the second is a very good catch of the moment, but the third is my favourite. the two ducks look so synchonized and having fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pat :-)) The ducklings in that third shot actually numbered seven in all, along with mamma. They were following me around for about 10 minutes, probably waiting for a free handout.
DeleteVery creative, Mitch. That's what I like about this blog. The subject is open to interpretation. I am hesitant about moving in on children that I don't know. I did enter one photo in this week's theme. I was hoping that a parent wouldn't object to my presence at that park.
ReplyDeleteThese are great shots. I like the last one the best. You really had all your ducks lined up in a row. LOL
There is a lot of detail in those ducklings.
Thanks Robert :-)) I was lucky with the ducklings, as they followed me around for some time, probably hoping for a food handout, I got quite a few nice shots of them.
DeleteExcellent interpretation of the theme, Mitch! Fabulous shot of the ducklings...
ReplyDeleteThanks Belita :-))
