Picture This 186: Lynda's Classical

Having a hard time with this theme.  I looked at the online dictionary for the definition of classical.  One meaning is:

(of an architectural design) simple, reposeful, well-proportioned, or symmetrical in a manner suggesting the architecture of ancient Greece and Rome

Only one photo from me this week unless I can think of another that might come close to the theme and this is stretching classical  out of the box but it's all I've got for now.

OK, that went just fine so I decided to add another classic western art style. From a Silversmith. This is the cantle plate hand crafted by silversmith Dale Bass for my saddle that Russ just finished.

I'll keep thinking, maybe I'll find that 3 classical style...... so why not some of Russ' leathercraft.  This is a headstall he made and donated to the college ranch horse team as a money making project. It will be auctioned to the highest bidder at one of their spring shows.  I hope it brings a good price.

  2. Hi Lynda!! You don't have to stick to the literal dictionary definition. I really like this interpretation, nice shot of the spurs!!

  3. I added a 2nd photo. I have been really trying to get get display type photos of Dale's silver work for a long time. It is so reflective, making it really hard to show all the detail.

  4. Added the 3rd photo. Any suggestions from all you great photographers on how to improved this type of photography. I am using a homemade black box and light diffuser, camera on tripod with cable release and a hand held led light. Take a number of photos at different settings. Download the raw file to Adobe Photoshop Elements for editing and changing the background.
