Picture This 186 - Classical

Lovely photo as header, Well done Sue.
Classical - I suppose I could put up a photo of my nose, that is really classical, but won't bother. Anyhow here is what I found:


Our local town of Solothurn was sort of founded by the Romans, so it is steeped in classical stuff I suppose. The most classical seem to be the signs of the local inns. I saw this one of the Hotel Krone (Crown) so took a shot.

  1. Hi Pat!! A photo of your nose would certainly have been different to all other entries!! LOL. Three wonderful selections for the theme. Love the local inn sign. Rather more ornate and classical than most British inn signs!! Great shot of the Solothurn cathedral spires. The ceiling of St.Urs is really beautiful!! Truly classical architecture.

  6. I love the architecture of these photos. The interior of the cathedral and the spires are great images. I like the photo of the crown too.

  7. Pat, your three beautiful shots make me feel like visiting Solothurn in the near future... Love the wrought iron ornament against the concrete chimneys in the top shot... the classical spires pointing towards the sky in the middle shot are really beautiful... awesome ceiling in the third shot...

  9. Its so nice being able to see the different angles of architecture from different countries. Absolutely love the first shot .. what a beautiful sign!!
