I have brought this photo before in a blog, but I just had to show her again. Her name is Fat Berta and she travels around. She lived in Solothur for about five years and has now shifted along to a place called Grenchen. Unfortunately she was the target for a few decorations, but here she is.

Picture This #203 ~ Fantasy Factory
Thanks for hosting Debby and a great theme. The Swiss are not exactly well known for their fantasy, although their ideas can be a bit dreamed up now and again. Anyhow I did find a few strange objects.

This figure is known as The Diver and you can find him at Rainham on the River Thames down river.
At our annual Autumn Fair in Solothurn you find all sorts

Incredible statue.
ReplyDeleteCool robot.
Beautiful wolf. Cute tiger.
HI Pat !! Terrific trio of photos for Debby's theme. That first one is priceless!! I rather like Fat Berta, but you wouldn't want to meet her on a dark night!! LOL. I don't recall ever seeing that shot before, so maybe you posted her on WordPress previously? I do remember 'The Diver' from a previous post. A cool piece of metal sculpture!! Wolves and tigers? Solothurn in the autumn sounds like a dangerous place!! :-))
ReplyDeletelol, that Berta is one buxom babe!
ReplyDelete"The Diver" is cool and I love the animal figures.
Hi Pat love these the first one is my favorite
ReplyDeleteSorry I could not get around before I had visitors all day yesterday, 3 lovely takes on the theme I especially love the diver;)
ReplyDeleteSimply love Fat Berta, would like to know the history behind this piece???
ReplyDeleteThree excellent shots on the theme. Fat Berta is a cool public artwork... The Diver seems to be a big one and I like the animal figures. Pat, do you think the tiger was intentionally placed over there to give the illusion that he was looking at Millet's The Gleaners? If it was, that's a fantastic fantasy...
ReplyDeleteI like all of these but I really love Bertha! You chose some great shots for the theme this week.
ReplyDeleteBertha is wonderful !! I like the diver and at first I thought the dog was real, But Bertha is just magnificent. LOL at Belita's astute observation.
ReplyDeleteI remember big blue. Nice! and the diver, that is a new one for me. Nice
