Picture This #233 ~ Animal, Vegetable, Mineral

Many thanks to Pat for hosting this week's challenge. She has come up with a really good theme, one that everyone should have something for. 

Here are mine:

ANIMAL: Lion sleeping in the midday sun.

VEGETABLE: Avocados
Under-ripe Guacamole

MINERAL: Petrified Wood. Used to be 'vegetable' but is now 'mineral'

    Hi Mitch! Wonderful to see the lion sleeping, an unusual shot of this great beast. The avocados look tasty and should be ready in two or three days. My favorite is that gorgeous petrified wood. Incredible colors, shapes and angles there.

    Three wonderful shots for the theme. It seems that the lion was enjoying the nap. Avocados is one of the few fruit that I don't like but I love your photo. They are so nicely displayed. My favourite is the petrified wood.... very unusual... and the colours, wow... beautiful!

      Thanks Belita :-)) By coincidence, I do not like avocado also!! Yes, I was surprised by the colours in the petrified wood. I had always assumed it would be a dull plain colour until I saw this.

    Great "action" shot of the lion, just how my felines sleep at home.The advocados are looking good, nice and shiny.The petrified wood is a really unique shot. I think the TV programme - sometime in the fifties, was built around such objects where the scientists (remember Sir Mortimer Wheeler) had to guess what the material actually was.

      Thanks Pat :-)) If someone had shown me that piece of petrified wood before I knew what it was and asked me to guess what it was, I would probably have given the wrong answer. I'd have probably said something like 'quartz'.

    Ohhh! what a nice shot of the lion. He looks very comfy there lying in the sun!

    I love avocado! nice shot...makes one feel HAPPY on this dull winter day.

    that last one of the petrified wood has so many pretty colors...very nice!
