Hi it's me, Benni, and I am your host this week. My little Baltic amber seal is thrilled and honored to be the banner picture.
It's been about 5 months since we last did light so I thought I would do it again. I went back and read some of the comments from that challenge and people had many photos that fit.
I am choosing to focus on one quality of light and that is translucence. An object is translucent when some light can come through but not enough for the object to be transparent.
But you might choose transparency or night light or shadows and reflections. Or something else.
Play! Have fun! Let there be light.
A jellyfish (also called Sea Nettle)
A pink petaled geranium in the evening light
Cobalt blue bottles on a window sill
Excellent choice for this week's theme, Benni! Three awesome shots of different examples. Love them all but that jellyfish is really beautiful...you did capture its beauty!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Belita. In a week's time I will be on that very beach.
DeleteHi Benni !! Great choice of theme, it's something everyone should have photos for!! Just by coincidence I had chosen one of your pics from last week's theme as the header for it's quality of light!!! LOL.
ReplyDeleteThe jellyfish is great, at first glance it looked like a piece of broken frosted-glass. The geranium is beautiful, a flower I photograph a lot myself. My fave is the third shot, of the daylight coming through the windows and illuminating the blue bottles. Fabulous!!
Thank you so much, Mitch. After Belita commented I looked up the jellyfish and discovered it has stinging tentacles. So now I will be more careful when I see them.
DeleteAnd thank you for putting my picture as the banner. I am honored.
Love light shinning through blue glass, have some in my kitchen (all great shots but the blue is my favorite). Haven't played in a long time. Quickly went to my files and found these from a Thanksgiving trip 2011. The bridge shot was in a moving pickup shot through the windshield.
ReplyDeleteThank you, and the bridge shot is well done through the windshield of a moving vehicle.
Deletehi Benni a wonderful banner and a wonderful theme
ReplyDeletelove your shots will be back
I see they are up and I look forward to checking them out. Thank you.
DeleteGood Morning, Benni, from sunny South Africa. Such a wonderful banner, well deserved, I also really liked that shot. Covets that amber seal, somehow ugly .............. want want want *smacks self over the head*
ReplyDeleteThe jelly fish is a fantastic capture, see through and clear, the sand so sharp and white too.
Wonderful capture of light through the Geranium, I must play with something like that, never thought of it.
I also love blue glass bottles, have a small collection too, they photograph really well. Bet your window is so pretty looking in from the outside, too?
Be back now now, just have to phone my mother in Denmark and will try some shots for this great challenge.
Thanks, Marianne. Hope you were able to get through to your mother.
DeleteHi Benni a fantastic theme and three wonderful captures my favorite is the jelly fish but I love them all;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Barry, I thought of you when I put up the jellyfish, thinking you would probably know what type it is but I was able to find out on a Florida web site.
DeleteCongratulations on the wonderful banner photo.
ReplyDeleteInteresting view of the jelly fish, never seen one like that before. The light through the flower is a good capture and the blue glass reflects the colours very well.
Thank you, Pat. I had never seen a jelly fish like that before and now that I know what it is I am glad I didn't get closer.
DeleteBeautiful on that grey sandy background.
ReplyDeleteLove the gentle light thru the pink petals.
Exquisite blue glassware.
Thank you so much, Anders. I like your phrase "gentle" light.
DeleteBenni! The Jelly is spot on girl. I like the very simple yet full view it offers. So very nice. Light being on top, below and through out. Now the sun behind the flower, makes me think of a rose hip. Not sure why, but love it. The bottles in the window, really strike me, cause they have the color and texture of some of the glass I have gathered from around the world. So true in color and deep in tone. Congrats on the amber seal too. It sets the level that we need to meet for this theme just right. Now I have to go to work for this one, but because of work it will be a few days in coming. This will be fun. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Randy. The jellyfish is my fave, I took quite a few of it because I had never seen one before washed up. I put my foot in a couple for scale. But not too near the jelly. Hope your work goes well and I look forward to your pictures.
