Picture This #416: Three Shots Of One View

Thanks for hosting Anders with such a good idea and wonderful banner photo from Belita.

I don't always take the same views on my walks.

We always drive the same route to the supermarket in the next village of Langendorf and I take photos on the way. We drive through an avenue of trees, so here are a few views:

What an amazing banner shot by Belita. And an intriguing theme. Here is my house.

Many thanks to Anders for hosting this week. Definitely a theme we have not done before, so it'll be interesting to see what everyone comes up with!! I found this more difficult than I expected. Going through my archive I realised that although there are some places I have photographed a lot, I rarely use the same angle and/or distance twice. That being the case, here are three photos of the same subject, Carew Castle, at different times of year, but from slightly different angles and distances.

2) A very still day in late autumn.

Great banner by Belita!!

Greetings and welcome from Sweden! This week I'm hosting and my idea for the theme is that pick one and the same view at three different times. Looking forward to your contributions. Best Anders.

First of all thank you so much for featuring my photo as banner this week. One of my memories of a visit to Schaffhausen and thanks for hosting Mitch. Yes, our subjects are becoming less and less, but if we take new photos, we should have something completely different.

Something completely different, a bridge crossing at our local supermarket.

This is a relatively new bridge across the River Rhine in Schaffhausen. I only got a side view as we were passing on the road.

Good day from the USA; the world seems in turmoil this week, both here and in Barcelona. Fortunately, photography is a wonderful way to take a break. Lovely banner shot of the castle by Pat. Great theme by Mitch.

I don't have many pictures of bridges so you may have seen these before.

Hi everyone, this is Mitch and I'll be hosting this week. The theme this week will be 'Bridges'. I think we have had this theme before, so apologies for that, but my original idea for the theme (Monuments & Memorials) I decided might not be appropriate given what's been happening in the US lately. Let's see your best shots of engineering built to span rivers.

Picture This #414 ~ Landmarks

I am heartbroken and terribly frightened. Our country has been the site of a domestic terrorist attack by the Far Right; a march by the Ku Klux Klan, neo-Nazis, and other scum against peace and brotherhood. This has resulted in at least one death.

This is not my picture, but signifies my hope that hatred and chaos will not overtake the United States.

Many thanks to Pat for hosting this week. Great theme, I don't think we've done this one before. I've got lots of photos of landmarks, so decided to go with the really famous ones!!

1) Windsor Castle, London. One of the most iconic landmarks in the UK.
Windsor Castle 3

2) Statue Of Liberty, New York. Probably one of the most instantly recognisable landmarks anywhere in the world.
Liberty 12

3) Millenium Centre, Cardiff. Perhaps not as world-famous as the previous two, but very well-known to anyone who lives in Wales.

4) Stratosphere Tower, Las Vegas. Dominates the skyline for miles around.

Picture This #414 ~ Landmarks

First of all thankyou for featuring my photo as banner last week. Unfortunately I was not here as we spent last week-end visiting my son in Schaffhausen and I actually left my computer for two days. However I compensated by taking over 200 photos in Schaffhausen. As usual I am posting on Friday as my Saturday morning plans do not fit with Picture This.

And now for this week. I chose Landmark as to be quite honest, it was all that came to my mind. I am sure wherever you live, you have your own landmarks.

If you visit Shaffhausen, you take a photo of the Rheinfall

Rheinfall 06.08 (25)

On the way to Schaffhausen you pass through the station of Gösgen in Kanton Solothurn, just 40 minutes by road from where we live. It has a nuclear power plant, built in 1979, so what could be better as a landmark. You even see the steam rising through the clouds if you fly over it.  I always try for a photo when I take this route. It is only steam that comes out of the chimney, they say, nothing dangerous. One day we will make an excursion by car so that I can get up closer and don't take your geiger counter with you, they will not let you in.
Gösgen 06.08 (2)

This is Schloss Laufen which towers above the Rheinfall. There is a train,  but also a lift.
Schloss Laufen 06.08 (28)

And our cathedral, St. Urs in Solothurn. I took this photo today.
