Picture This #333 ~ Urban Equipment

Pat, your banner shot is haunting. The first time I saw it I knew it was something special.

Belita, this was an interesting theme. It had me stretching but that is good. Here are my takes on "Urban Equipment".

Picture This #333 ~ Urban Equipment

Many thanks to Belita for hosting this week. A different and interesting theme, but one I found very difficult, as this is not a photographic subject I have done much of. I had to really trawl through my archive, but finally found some suitable shots. By coincidence, they are all of 'old' subjects.

JUST A REMINDER: NO 'PICTURE THIS' ON SATURDAY 26TH DECEMBER!!

1) An old handcart that used to be used by local greengrocers for moving heavier items like sacks of potatoes. Llandeilo, Wales.

2) Old fire-hydrant. Batsto, New Jersey.

3) Old postbox, Saundersfoot, Wales.

4)  This is an old London street-lamp.......that I photographed in Arizona!! When the old London Bridge was bought by an American and transported to Lake Havasu, Arizona, even the street-lamps went with it!!

First of all thanks for hosting Belita and many thanks to Mitch for using my photo as a banner. Actually perhaps a little explanation. It is the place in the local cemetery reserved for the babies. Often they have no separate grave as they die so early and they constructed this area where the lady is surrounded by the little graves with no names.

These are the various rubbish disposal places for our village. The containers are labelled, plastic, bottles, clothing, etc. etc.

They were cleaning the drains opposite our home, so I naturally took a couple of photos.

PICTURE THIS #333 ~ URBAN EQUIPMENT

Hi all! Here Belita is to host this week's challenge under the theme 'URBAN EQUIPMENT'. I hope none of you will complain about my choice. I guess it will give you many possibilities to post very interesting pictures. I am curious to see what the urban equipment looks like at your place or wherever you have seen it. On Monday, I'll be leaving Portugal for a 10-day stay in Madrid. Therefore, I have only two days to view your beautiful contributions and drop the related comments.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2016!!

NOTE FROM MITCH:
There will be no 'Picture This' theme on Saturday 26th December due to the Christmas holiday, it will return on Saturday 2nd January for the first theme of 2016!! Happy Christmas!!

PICTURE THIS #332 ~ MAGICAL MISTY TOUR

Super banner image, Mitch!
I don't have many magical misty shots in my folders but  I like the theme, Pat... I think the set below fits the tour...

There is a newly inaugurated pathway by the riverside. Last month, I walked along its 8 km on a day not with a clear sky...

Wonderful banner shot, Mitch, both modern and ancient.

I like your theme, Pat, let's see if these fit. Florida, the land of sun, also has a lot of mist, so all of my pictures are from there.

Many thanks to Pat for hosting this week. An intriguing theme!! It's one I had some difficulty with, as I've hardly ever taken mist or fog shots.....but then I remembered a set of shots I took of sea mist at a place called Hengistbury Head, in Dorset, England, earlier this year!!

Picture This #332 ~ Magical Misty Tour

Pat calling in from the outpost in Europe called Switzerland. We have been engulfed in fog and mist over the last couple of weeks, so I am afraid my photos are a reflection of the situation. If you don't have fog or mist, just boil some water and take a photo, that will work as well. And now to begin.

I have a thing about graveyards and saw this figure standing there, so I took her photo.

Picture This #331 ~ Traffic Signs

That is a super banner photo by Belita. It was my favourite last week, such wonderful colours and contrasts.

Thanks for hosting Anders

I took this photo near where my dad lives in Dagenham, East London, GB

Here there is a mixture of signs. Our local train, taken from the car while we were waiting to cross the stop lights.

This is one from the town of Biel, about 20 minutes drive from where we live and where my son lives from Tuesday to Friday. Biel is about 40 French speaking and 60% Swiss German, so nearly on the laguage border, the reason why the towns sound a bit French.

Many thanks to Anders for hosting this week. An interesting theme, and something of a challenge!! I knew I had some photos for the theme, the challenge was finding them in my archive!!

1) New York street sign.

2) This sign indicates a cycling path.

3) Sign for temporary traffic lights. I guess one driver was colourblind, as he drove straight into it!!
