Picture This #383 ~ Shades Of Green

First of all Happy New Year to all and may it be a good one.
Thanks Mitch for hosting with a good theme and also for featuring my glittery Poinsettia as banner photo.
I decided to avoid plants where possible in my photos and look for something different.

This is the new bottle bank at my supermarket. The plastic bottles are now crushed automatically when you put them through the slot. Glass bottles seem to have disappeared, but there is also a slot for them somewhere.

Saw this Mini Cooper parked next to our car so thought it would be a good subject for a photo and brought some memories back of Mr. Swiss first own car, although I did not know him then and it was many years ago. Today they have re-modernised them.Mini Cooper 25.11.2016

I was sitting outside and a grasshopper appeared. When he saw my camera, it was show time on the Bromeliad.

Hi everyone!! This is Mitch, I'll be hosting this last theme of 2016. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and wishing you all a very happy and healthy New Year!! I decided to avoid a theme based around New Year and decided instead to go for a colour-based theme. So, lets see your different shades of green!!

2) This little green fellow dropped by to say hello while I was walking around Colby Woodland Gardens.

Picture This #382 ~ C Is For Christmas And....

Wonderful photo from Mitch as banner, I really liked that photo.

Thanks for hosting Belita.

Poinsettia is the local store with some glitter. We call them Christmas star translated from German. I always have one at home every year.

And what would Christmas be without Mistletoe. They are actually a parasitic growth and attach themselves to the trees. They look very attractive in their bunches hanging on the trees and are very common in our area. This is actually a coloured photo, but it seemed to be a black, grey and white day.

And the local supermarket were running a special offer. You got a card and for every 20 Swiss francs you spent you got a sticky for the card. When the card is full you can choose from 3 teddy bears. I managed to get all three within 2 weeks, and now have a fourth bear - does anyone want a teddy bear? They are easy to look after, do not need food, just a hug now and again.

Many thanks to Belita for hosting this week, a very appropriate and festive theme it is!! I had fun trying to find some varied shots rather than all just typical Christmas decoration shots. Didn't completely succeed, but who cares.....it's Christmas!!

1) C for Christmas Tree, of course!! This is my mom's. I love her choice of colour and decoration.

I was so excited about this theme. I got to look through many of my pictures and relive memories. These are the ones I have chosen. Oh, did I say I love the banner shot by Mitch? I do.

Hello PT fellows! This is Belita who first of all wants to present sincere apologies for the irregular posting recently due to neither enough free time nor suitable mood... Even though, I'm very pleased to host this week's Challenge under the theme
'C' IS FOR CHRISTMAS AND...
I'm looking forward to viewing the subjects of your contributions.
Enjoy!

Picture This #381 ~ Street Scenes

Thanks for hosting Heidi and thnks to Mitch for featuring my snow scene as a banner photo.

Someone said Street scene. This is a bit out of context perhaps, but my mum took the photo in 1945 or 46 in our street in the East End of London on VE Day, the end of the war. The street was decorated and people were ready to at last have a party, relax, and be glad that it was over. Taken probably with our Brownie Box camera.

Norah Street 1945

Taken on a visit to London when I always stayed with my friend in Hornchurch, London. This is a turning at the end of her road and you can see a bloke coming towards me. It was a second hand car sales place and he wanted to know why I was taking a photo. I explained I was a tourist and it was OK. He was just a bit worried I might be from a car insurance. I think he had a few dodgy motors on the place. Actually I was aiming for the YMCA building in the background.

And now just a normal street scene in our local town of Solothurn, at the time when the sunflowers blossom, on  market day.
