Picture This #350 ~ Waterscapes

Wonderful theme by Heidi and banner picture by Pat. I had a hard time (but fun) looking for pictures. I have a good many as you can imagine. Finally settled on these three.

Breakfast rock
I used to climb this rock and have breakfast looking out on Lake Superior. It's about 20 feet high or 6 meters.

Picture This #349 ~ Bridges

I love the majestic and dramatic banner shot by Mitch this week. Great theme, too, thanks Pat for hosting.

Drawbridge
I may have posted this before. Drawbridge up in Florida. Tom has a radio that allows us to pick up the conversation between the boats and the bridge master.

Many thanks to Pat for hosting this week. A great theme, I'm not sure if we've had this subject before!! I hadn't realised how many photos of bridges I'd taken til I went through my archive!! Took me awhile to decide which ones to use!!

Here are mine:

1) Water-level footbridge at the Bosherston Lily Ponds, Pembrokeshire, Wales. This is about 5 miles from where I live. When the water levels are high these footbridges can become submerged.

2) The O'Callaghan-Tillman Bridge, spanning the Colorado River. I took the photo standing on the Hoover Dam.

3) The Cleddau Bridge, Pembrokeshire, Wales, at sunset. This is about three miles from where I live.

4) London Bridge, purchased by an American businessman in the 1960's, transported to Lake Havasu, Arizona, and reassembled. Now a tourist resort.

Picture This #349 ~ Bridges

My turn this week it seems and the theme is Bridges. I don't know if we have had it before probably, but perhaps in the meanwhile we have crossed some new bridges. As usual I am doing it on Friday evening as I do not always have the time on Saturday, and at the moment do not know if I have to leave you all for a few days to go to England as my father has been in hospital for the past 3-4 weeks.

This bridge is in a village near us on the Rive Emme and is part of the section for the kayak club: that is why there are so many strange red and white poles hanging for the kayaks to steer through I suppose.

This is the so-called Krezacker Bridge in Solothurn and only for pedestrians. Now and again a tourist with his car might take a wrong turning. He is then sure to have his photo in the local newspaper and will become the laugh of the town.
KreuzackerbrĂ¼ck, Solothurn

This is the train bridge across the River Aar in Solothurn which has the trains  ZĂ¼rich-Geneva that passes through Solothurn on their way. The tower on the left is known as the Wonky Tower (Krummturm) and as you can see the architect made some sort of mistake when it was built some time in the 15th century. Anyhow it is still standing and not yet collapsed.

And here is a bridge over the River Thames at Rainham, near London.

Grand banner shot!! Love the dog with the blue vest.

Thanks for hosting Mitch and congratulations Belita on the super banner shot. Just love that dog laying so casual with his pullover.

Let's start in the local cemetary, there is always water running there somewhere, a stream runs through it.

Fountain at Cemetery St. Kathrinen

We do have fountains in our town of Solothurn (11 in all), but this is a special new design on our main Amthausplatz. A matter of taste I suppose.

This is one of the photos I took of the River Mosel in Germany when my son got married to a girl from the area. These barges are ever present on the river.

PICTURE THIS #348 ~ FLOWING WATER

Thanks, Mitch, for the choice of 'my dog' to be this week's banner image. I really feel honoured. Good theme, indeed, particularly in my case who loves water...

I took this photo at El Retiro Park in Madrid
