Picture This #318 ~ Contrast/Difference

Excellent banner shot, that doggy has won my heart. I may need to get out more - all my pictures are of plants and flowers. But I do enjoy them.

A number of years ago in Canada, ferns and clover growing out of a cleft in the rocks.

Thanks for hosting Belita. A really interesting theme and gives plenty food for thought. Also congratulations on the banner photo.

Here you have the contrast of the green stalks with the red peppers

I found quite a few contrasts in this photo of the sunset above where I live.
Sunset over Feldbrunnen

I found the berries of the Rowan tree contrast well with the leaves.

And I found this photo interesting, where the growing crops on the field contrast to the surrounding grass.

Many thanks to Belita for hosting this week. A very interesting theme, with many possible variations!! I had to think about this one for a while and do some searching of my archive. I finally came up with two 'contrast' shots and two 'difference' shots.

1) Contrast 1: Natural contrast of light and dark. Thistles at sunset.
Sunset Thistles 3

2) Difference 1: Bumblebee (left) and Honeybee (right)
Head To Head

3) Contrast 2: Artificial contrast of light and dark. Candle against dark background.

4) Difference 2: Life and lifelessness. Small plant growing in the cinders of a lava field. Sunset Crater, Arizona.

PICTURE THIS #318 ~ CONTRAST/DIFFERENCE

Hi, dear members, Belita here feeling pleased to be hosting this week's challenge. Well, I have to admit that the choice of a theme hasn't been an easy task. Anyway, I hope you accept my choice: CONTRAST/DIFFERENCE. I understand it gives many possibilities to all of you to post awesome photos, as you do it, always...
Enjoy the weekend...

My interpretations all taken in Portugal

The while flower and the brown background contrast sharply
CONTRAST/DIFFERENT
The shadow projected on the façade is much smaller than the part in the light.
CONTRAST/DIFFERENCE
The red berry contrasts with the black ones
CONTRAST/DIFFERENCE
The style of the pair is quite a contrast to the style of the man and the woman depicted in the posters

Picture This #317 ~ FACES

Thanks Mitch for the theme. Wonderful choice for the banner picture, well done to Heidi. I am also grateful for the warning on Flickr's (yet again) changing their format. Here are my faces:

PICTURE THIS #317 ~ FACES

Congratulations Heidi for the very nice banner image... I can listen to the sound of the violin playing...

Excellent choice of theme, Mitch!
Let's start with a woman's face that looks not very happy. I would say, either suspicious or in bad mood... What do you think? I saw her at a Lisbon district that is inhabited by African immigrants, mainly.
FACES (3)

Dogs being said to be man's best friends, shouldn't be missed, though cats are my favourite pets. Last week, I found this dog during my long walking through the central region of Portugal
FACES (2)

Some façades, for their originality or creativity, always draw my attention. It was the case with this one in between the railway station and the cruise ship port (Lisbon)
FACES (1)

Could you imagine the world without flowers? I couldn't. Whenever I see a passion flower, it looks, at my eyes, like the face of a clock.

Thanks for hosting Mitch and congratulations to Heidi for the impressive banner photo.

I am early this morning, no ironing to do and the food already cooking, so let's get started. I will try to fit in some recent photos

Meet Harald the rooster at the local chicken farm. He has about 70 wives to organise but found the time to pose for a photo. Note the look on his face as if to say hurry up, I have better things to do with my time

I had to disturb this cow whilst it was drinking, but it did not seem to bother her. She continued.

"What does she want?" they asked as I called them for a photo. It is not often I get Tabby and Fluffy together on a photo, but I think they were a little annoyed.

This is the face that frightens them away in the front garden.

Hi everyone, this is Mitch. I'll be your host for this week. My theme for this week is 'Faces'. You can be as creative as you wish with this theme. It can be human faces if you want, but there are many other interpretations you could use: faces of statues, clock-faces, cliff-faces, faces of buildings. Let's see a variety!!

I see Flickr have (yet again!!!) changed how you access the HTML codes on their site. If anyone has a problem, send me a PM on Facebook and I'll try to help you out.

Here are mine:

1) This is what I'd call a 'Monday Face'.

2)  I call this one 'The Watcher', as he lurks amongst the plants at Stockpole Mencap Gardens.

3) This horse-sculpture is made entirely of driftwood found on beaches.

PICTURE THIS #316 ~YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD

My neighbourhood covers two very different areas: one that is mainly residential and modern while the other is mainly commercial and monumental, always crowded with tourists. If you like sweet pastry, you have a pastry shop that was founded in 1823. It's well-known for its custard tarts.

You see it at the top of a building that is used for commercial purposes.
