Here I am, finally. Thank you for putting my shot of the orange berries as banner shot. I am having a great time looking at your photos, and trying to come up with something as I have only one picture of a clock. Then I decided to go to lateral thinking and show the effects of time.
These stairways used to lead to a lovely long sandy beach. But time and the rising of the sea have eroded the beach and they can no longer be used. The rocks were placed there to try and slow the erosion. From time to time, the park gets money to dredge up sand from the ocean floor and put it on the beach. And the rising sea takes it back.
Blocked off, this stairway was eventually removed.
Happily there are other parts of this beach that are still available for birds and crabs and photographers. Tom said I should show some "before" pictures, so here they are.
Staircases the year before. The erosion has already started, but at least they are usable.
Access to the water's edge without rocks. Again 2009.
Beautiful dramatic seascapes and wonderful old decrepid stairs.
ReplyDeleteHi Benni !! I like your thinking for this theme. Yes, indeed....time has a great effect on coastlines, and we know it's not necessarily to do with climate change (although it may be speeding up some of the process).....continental drift and other factors have changed coastlines for millions of years. This thing about putting down rocks and dredging sand reminds me of the story of King Canute. Nature will always win in the end.
ReplyDeleteWOW love all your time shots yes erroson is everywhere it is the way the oceans work
