Picture This #427 ~ Red

First of all thanks to Benni for hosting and a wonderful banner photo from Mitch.

So let's begin with a Swiss fire engine. We drive past the fire station every time we go to the local supermarket.

The sunrise from 23rd November. Actually I took a photo  with my mobile phone in the morning when I rose and Mr. Swiss said he had a much better photo, we even compete. I only have an iPhone 6, but he has the better with the iPhone 7 and he was up earlier than me, so the sunrise was better. This is the Mr. Swiss photo.

It is a Christmas tradition in Switzerland, and other European countries, to have a Christmas wreath with four candles. Each week of Advent another candle is lit, until all four are burning at Christmas. I took this photo last week in the local store.

Many thanks to Benni for hosting this week. A nice simple theme, yet it has endless possibilities. Always a favourite colour with most folks, too!! I have literally hundreds of red flower shots, but decided to avoid those for a change!! Here are mine:

1) Ever get the feeling you're being watched?

2) The formations of Red Rock Canyon, Nevada. For scale you can see two people climbing the rocks in the middle of the shot.

3) Typical New York fire-escape, brightly painted.

4) Japanese Red Maple.

Benni, as you may remember, red is one of my favourite colours. Hardly can I miss the opportunity of taking a photo whenever I happen to see something red coloured.

Not a woman in red but a woman against a red painted door - Oporto

Normally, Portuguese kiosks are red painted, and this one - seen in Lisbon - is not an exception.

Originally, the main drink they served was a fresh lemonade with gas that in Portuguese slang is called 'Pirolito'. Nowadays they have expanded their line of business and they serve snacks and other drinks. Foreign tourists favour kiosks. They are strategically located at some of the most popular squares.

Good morning everyone, I will be your host this week. We have a lovely banner shot by Mitch, a sweet little bird singing its heart out. My theme is simple and people should find they have many shots to choose from or take. It is red. Red can be the main colour in the picture or a complementary colour. Enjoy! Here are mine.

My favorite fruit, the pomegranate. In Sicily pronounced pom-uh-gra-NA-tay. Delicious red juice pours out of the ruby seeds for those patient enough to get to them.

Choosing songs and finding a photo is difficult, so I am afraid I did it the other way round. I am a music lover and like all sorts of styles. 

My first one is "Lean on me". I have two walking sticks, the nice one for outside and the other more for at home, but both a very good support.

And what about some "Autumn Leaves", "Les feuilles mortes"

What a fabulous banner shot by Pat! And a great theme by Anders, well done. People's music tells us much about them. I had fun finding pictures to go with some of my beloved songs. (Couldn't find anything to go with Dylan's "Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll", and maybe that is just as well.) Anyway, here they are.

Great banner shot and very intriguing theme. I am late, and in a bit of a hurry, but will be back later to comment.

I was having trouble, in Florida, getting my camera to focus on the moon. I thought I had it set up, but the shutter seemed frozen. So I pointed to the doorway and the shutter clicked, so I renewed my efforts to get the moon.

I wasn't able to get eclipse glasses and thought I would miss it. Then I saw pix people had taken with light boxes and colanders that showed the crescent of the sun and the shadow of the moon. I rushed out with my colander, an assistant, and my camera. You can sort of see the eclipse. Sorta.

Just couldn't get this driftwood to look like I wanted it to. I took about 10 shots.

1) I spotted this odd figure during a walk at Aberglasny Gardens. I have no idea why it was there. I decided to call it "Spirit Of The Gardens".
