PICTURE THIS #427 ~ RED

Very beautiful little bird, Mitch! It's a so awesome shot that creates me the illusion that I can hear him chirping...
Benni, as you may remember, red is one of my favourite colours. Hardly can I miss the opportunity of taking a photo whenever I happen to see something red coloured.

Three of my latest red-coloured subjects.

Not a woman in red but a woman against a red painted door - Oporto
RED COLOUR

Normally, Portuguese kiosks are red painted, and this one - seen in Lisbon - is not an exception.
Originally, the main drink they served was a fresh lemonade with gas that in Portuguese slang is called 'Pirolito'. Nowadays they have expanded their line of business and they serve snacks and other drinks. Foreign tourists favour kiosks. They are strategically located at some of the most popular squares.

  1. Hi Isabel !! Good to see you taking part this week. Great shot of the lady in white, who stands out nicely against the red door. I also noticed her red sunglasses on the table. Wonderful kiosk....so bright and cheerful and welcoming. Excellent craftsmanship in the wrought-iron bench. Well-crafted, although in my experience these benches are not very comfortable!!

    1. I agree with you...those benches are very uncomfortable.I think they are more ornamental than playing the role of a seat.

  2. Cool take on the theme with the Woman-in-front-of-a-red-door (a lesser known deburgh song)

    Beautiful beverage stand and irongwork

  3. Yes, Belita, I thought of you and your love of red when I decided on this theme. I looked forward to your red pictures and you did not disappoint. The first picture shows your amazing talent for capturing intriguing pictures of people. Her expression could be many things so I look at her again and again. Also the red glasses are a nice touch to set off the red door. The kiosk looks like some place I would visit for fizzy lemon, and then maybe sit on a bench like the exquisite one in your picture.

  5. You take such good photos of people and the first one is no exception with the red door in the background. A spanish kiosk is also something completely different and is very inviting. A red bench is really a good idea, although I would prefer a few red cushions on it as well.

    1. I have no idea how Spanish kiosks are but Portuguese ones are very familiar to me as you see them either in big or small cities. Thanks for your kind comment....

  6. Wonderful shots, Belita!I love the red door and the red sunglasses.Everything seems to glow in the sunlight! Even the girls skin looks so golden! Very pretty!

I was very puzzled by the pirolito. I Googled it and it looks like a lemony soft drink with a marble inside??? The Kiosk is really pretty! Red is not a color you see around here very often. It is stunning in its effect.

The bench is my favorite. It looks very dramatic against those gorgeous blue and white tiles!

  7. You know, Debby, 'pirolito' always reminds me of my childhood when it was perhaps the most common drink we did have at that time. It was served from a small bottle inside which there was a marble. Each bottle had a different one and our enthusiasm was not to have the drink but try to get a good collection of different marbles. I wonder how long you could sit on that bench.... Thanks for commenting...
