Hi everyone, this is Mitch. I'll be your host this week. I've been trying to think of a theme we haven't  done before and think I've come up with one. The theme is GLIMPSE. As defined in the dictionary it is "a momentary or partial view" or "to see something briefly or partially". Quite often one can catch a glimpse of a distant object through several closer objects. Hope you have fun with this. Here are mine:

1) A glimpse of Picton Castle through many of the bushes in it's wonderful gardens.

2) A glimpse of pillars through a doorway at Tintern Abbey.

3) A glimpse of the old house through two archways at the National Botanical Gardens Of Wales.

4) A glimpse of the cafe through the flowers of Stackpole Gardens.

Many thanks to Benni for hosting this week. A great theme, with lots of possibilities. I decided to split my entries between local places I enjoy visiting and far-away places I've visited. So, two of each. 

1) Aberglasny House, about thirty miles from where I live, has beautiful formal gardens.

2) At the Grand Canyon, there are other things to see apart from the canyon itself.....like this traditional Hopi house.

3) The River Cleddau, just three miles from where I live, is a great place for canoeing. In this photo I had gone about five miles up-stream to the old mill at Black Pool.

4) When visiting New York, this is one landmark you must see!!

Happy Saturday! I will be your host this week for Picture This. Wonderful banner shot by Heidi, incredibly colorful.

We all need to get away from time to time, from a short morning walk to a trip halfway around the world. And, of course, we take pictures. Here are mine, have fun showing us yours from your travels.

My chair and bag for an afternoon on Manasota Key in Florida.

Sorry about the quality of the picture. You are looking at a blast-off of the space shuttle from the Kennedy Space Center, one of the last in 2009. It's about 200 miles away on the other side of Florida and I didn't think I would get a decent shot of it getting away.

Good morning. I love this theme! I love things that are a bit different or unusual. I just got up and will be back after coffee to see your shots and comment them as well as the beautiful banner shot by Mitch.  Here are my shots:

Found on a walk. Don't know what to make of this.

Sometimes I like to cook a nice meal for a change; this is a tenderloin pork roast, done up in olive oil and herbs from my garden.

Manatee sculpture in Florida park.

There must have been a house here in the woods, all that is left is this fence. A bit different find on my walk.

Well, what is the theme of my choice??? Very simple and open to many many possibilities.  We all are surrounded by objects, people, fauna, flora, etc. that are different in size, shape, colour, function, height, etc, etc.. Therefore, this week's theme is BEING DIFFERENT IN...

My first example shows two houses (Oporto), the façades of which are obviously different in many ways...

The Entrepreneur Monument (Oporto) - you see how the elements are different in size and shape, mainly...

Cooking and Serving wares  - typical from the north of Portugal -  that are different in shape, size and use...


The aquatic life is different in size, colour and species...
