Thanks for hosting Heidi, and a wondeful banner photo Mitch

On one of our holidays, we were in Vienna and naturally visited all the tourist places. Sometimes they can get quite crowded. This is Schloss Schönbrunn with all the visitors.

Schloss_Schönbrunn

This guy had just landed in front of me on the meadow in front of our local castle, so I had to take a photo with all his paragliding gear.

I cannot escape the workers at the moment who are still doing things to our building. This guy was grinding something. As soon as the sparks began to fly, I was there with the camera. He laughed and said I should get further back as he did not want to be guilty of flying sparks on my camera lens.

This was just a casual shot from the car as we were passing buy. It seems these two guys were discussing how to mow the grass, or something like that.

Many thanks to Heidi for hosting this week. Her theme is one we haven't done for a while. I did used to take a lot of candid 'people' shots several years ago, I now try to avoid getting people in my shots most of the time, however I did get a couple recently. So my shots are two recent (colour) and two older (B&W) shots.

1) This guy appeared to be lost in thought.

Picture This #402 ~ Dealer's Choice

Welcome back Mitch and hope you had a great holiday - we all need them to give us fresh energy.
Thanks for hosting Benni and congratulations to Belita on the wonderful banner photo making me feel hungry.

Last week Mr. Swiss and I took a walk and there were some cows grazing nearby, so of course I was ready with my camera. Suddenly Mr. Swiss said "let's go". It seems there were a few cows with a bull and they were approaching (bull at the front left). I was astonished that he had so much respect for the bull, after all there was a fence in between. I continued shooting but followed him. He said bulls could get very nasty. I continued shooting, as you see a bull very rarely. It is all done at the institute these days and afterwards by vet.

I am still surrounded by builders and renovation work on the building where I live. A wonderful opportunity for some action photos. Here the worker was removing a steel pin and I just had to try and get an action shot with the sparks and everything.

And this, for me, is my picture of this year up to now. We had Germans that began to build the scaffolding, followed by Moroccans that finished the job. Now we have the  construction workers: some Swiss and a few other nationalities. There is a groups of Italians, wonderful people and when the boss saw I had my mobile phone camera in the hand, he called his colleagues and I did a group photo. The guy on the left is holding the pneumatic chisel, the noisiest instrument of all. Needless to say I get on very well with them.

Many thanks to Benni for hosting this week  (even though she nearly forgot to post the theme!! LOL!!). I'm just coming to the end of a very restful two week holiday from work. I spent a few days visiting mom and then a few more days visiting Baz, before returning home for the second week. During this time I finally managed to get my photographic year started and managed to get quite a few photos taken. All my shots this week were taken in the last few days.

1) This cheeky little chappie was following me around Colby Woodland Gardens.

2) Photographing Japanese Red Maple backlit is a particular favourite of mine, here's one I took this week.

This is Benni, sitting here while you are all probably snuggled in your beds. I had a nagging feeling there was something I needed to do today and like a flash it hit me - *put up the theme for Picture This*. So here it is, "Dealer's Choice", which you probably know is when the card dealer gets to pick the game. I could have called it "Pot Luck" as well, but it's the same thing. Choose any three pictures that you like and put them up for us all to enjoy. Here are mine:

Lady Slipper

Years ago, deep in the Canadian woods, I found this lovely wild orchid.

Ducks in a row

I have always liked this picture of the red-billed whistler ducks looking at something.

Violet salad

This is the time of year to gather violets for salad, with artichoke hearts and small sweet peppers.

Also let me compliment Belita on her striking and perfect picture for the theme "One, Two, Three".

PICTURE THIS #401 ~ ONE TWO THREE

Good theme, Anders!!
Congratulations, Heidi, for the colourful and cute banner image.

The one, two and three in one single shot: ONE lemon slice, TWO half shell mussels and THREE fish fillets.

Congratulations Heidi on the banner photo and thanks for hosting Anders.

The block where I live is being refurbished with all the works. New insulation, new colour and a lot of noise and dust. The scaffolding is now completed  which took two weeks. Now the plasterers have moved in and stripping the building. I am out daily with the camera, never had such a good opportunity for photos. Here is my No. 1 - a plasterer removing part of the original wall covering.

A shot from the local supermarket - two bears deciding to take a trip in a balloon basket.

Since our local stables, just across the road, decided to expand with chickens, ducks and geese, I am often there with the camera. Luckily I have a 300 lens as it cuts out the outlines of the fencing and get me nicely close to the action. Here are three of the duck population.
Ducks and Geese 28.03 (4)

And yes I have fourth photos. Now you are asking how can I when I have already presented 1, 2 and 3. When I was preparing the evening meal this evening I was cutting the mushrooms and found this one or is it three? As far as I am concerned this combines them all, so I took a few instant photos with my mobile phone camera, to commemorate the event.
