PICTURE THIS #423 ~ SPOOKY THINGS

Thanks, Mitch, for the choice of the funghi shot to be this week's banner image.

Halloween is not among our traditions. However, as an effect of the globalisation, I notice that year after year this country has been  celebrating it. Yesterday, in the afternoon, while I waswalking throughout Oporto city center, I took a few shots. As a result, I can now share on here some of them after having been edited. Have no fear, please!

Picture This #423 ~ Spooky Things

Thanks for hosting Heidi and very good banner shot by Belita

We don't do Halloween in Switzerland, but I pick up a few bits and pieces here and there.

I actually did a moon shot, although it was only a miniature moon.

I saw this guy in the local supermarket.
Halloween Skull
It seems pumpkins are the thing to have at Halloween.

Vampires are so messy, they never clean up after a meal.
Liver 13.10 (1)

Just wanted to add that the meat in the last photo is calf liver and quite expensive. We treat out vampires well here in Switzerland.

Hi all, Halloween is one of my favorite times of year. Great theme. Our wonderful banner shot by Belita fits in very well.

Here are my spooky things.

Moon
It's not Halloween without a spooky moon.

Halloween pumpkin
Jack-o-Lantern I carved several years ago.

Gull
Inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's movie "The Birds". I saw the movie when I was 12 or so and couldn't sleep for days.

Fish skull
Fish skull found on the beach, I darkened the photo for the theme.

PICTURE THIS #422 ~ ALL IN THE FAMILY

Congratulations, Benni! Your shot of the dog is really a good one...
Very sorry for being late but I have been out of Lisbon and will continue to be for one or two weeks more.

My contributions are my very simple interpretations of the interesting theme...

Picture This #422 ~ All In The Family

Thanks for hosting Benni and congratulations on the banner photo.

My photos are not from me, because the people that took the photos are no longer amongst us, it is something with a difference. Sorry for the quality but they older photos. I now have my first grandson, but we are keeping him out of Facebook and any other internet places. He can decide himself when he is old enough.

I am sorry for the poor quality of this photo, but it was taken with my mum's Brownie box camera some time in the 1950's. My grandfather is on the right, his son my dad next to him and then my grandmother. The lady on the left is my dad's sister, I remember the photo being taken.
Dad's family

I am in the middle taken my cousins for a walk, who were actually twins. I suppose I was about 2-3 years old at the time and they were 11 months younger. I will be 71 in December and my cousins will be celebrating 70 years in November.  Time flies, and we have now become the older generation.
Steve me and Kit at Nutfield

And here are Jason and Emily, my great grandparents. She eventually had 14 children and my grandmother was the only surviving daughter, she had 11 brothers. A couple died as children. They are many stories to tell of this dynasty. They were all farm labourers.

And me with mum and dad, what more shall I say?

Picture This #422 ~ All In The Family

Many thanks to Benni for hosting this week. A very good theme, with lots of possibilities. Unfortunately, my family has never really been known for passing heirlooms from one generation to the next, so all my photos will be of family themselves. All the photos are pre-digital photos that I've scanned, but all were taken by me.

1) This is the oldest of all the photos I'll be posting. On the left is my great-grandfather, in the middle my grandfather and on the right my grandmother. This was taken on the island of Jersey (not New Jersey in the US) around the early 70's (can't recall the exact year).

2) This photo is of my mom and step-father, with my grandfather in the background. Taken around 1981.

3) In this photo, the two children in the foreground are my cousins Fiona and Alex. How the years have passed!! Fiona is now studying at Manchester University and Alex is now a police officer!!

4) Not forgetting some of the family pets. This is Tara and Ben, both of them were mine back in the 80's.

Happy autumn to everybody. Here in the US we are enjoying a long warm season with temps still in the 70's (F)/20's (C). It smells like fall. It's glorious.
Thank you for putting my shy dog as banner shot. I'm happy he got used to the beach.
My theme for you is "All in the Family". This can include many things: treasured family possessions or heirlooms, pictures of family members (including you if you wish), pictures taken on family trips, and so forth. I hope you will enjoy finding pictures. Here are mine.

Tea cup
This teacup is English bone china, given to my father-in-law by his mother, Yuli Palcoviš.

Picture This #421 ~ All By Myself

A great theme, Anders, and a wonderful banner shot by Mitch. Here are my offerings:

Egret
An egret all by herself, hoping for a meal.

Tree on the beach
A lonely tree on a beach in Michigan. The white puffs are seagulls.

Afraid of the water
This dog had been brought to the dog beach in Florida, but he was bewildered by the water and afraid of the other dogs. A few days later he had gotten used to it and was enjoying himself.
