Picture This #280 ~ Fences, Gates And Walls

Hi everyone, this is Mitch. I'll be your host again this week, nursing a slight thick head after this year's office Christmas meal !! LOL.

This week's theme is 'Fences, Gates And Walls', that should give you all plenty of scope, so I hope to see lots of great shots!!

Here are mine:

1) Fence along Durlston Head Coastal Path, Dorset, England, taken on a visit to Baz this past summer.

2) Glimpse of the formal gardens and old walls at Aberglasny, Wales, through a gateway.

  2. Hi Mitch wonderful shots to set us off and 2 I remember you taking. A fabulous day we had at Durlston Head Coastal Path. A beautiful view through the gate at Aberglasny. Despite being late in the year the gardens at Upton House were sill looking great. Finally a lovely traditional fence at the Dinefwr Estate. Nice work mate ;)

    1. Thanks Baz :-)) The one of the gate at Upton House isn't from this year's visit, it was from the first time we went there, in 2012.

  3. Nice perspectives in that first photo! A lovely coastline. Is that a cow pasture to the right? I think I see barbed wire. Also see the caption you gave this photo. "Don't Fence Me In"! I love that song!

Looking through the gateway to the garden...what a beautiful place!

The gate in the rain is my favorite. I love the curlycues and hearts.

    Nice old split rail fence!

    1. Thanks Debby :-)) Yes, the fenced in field is some kind of pasture. I can't remember if there were any animals there that day. It could have been for cows, or maybe even sheep.

  4. Hi Mitch, great theme and wonderful pictures. All look very inviting to explore, especially the first one with the view of the sea and hills. I notice there is a small acorn on the fencepost. Any idea what it is there for? I see an arrow as well, wondering if it is marking a trail. In any event, so nice to see greens in your shots - makes me long for the days I could get out and walk. No green anymore here.

    1. Thanks Benni :-)) Yes, the little acorn symbols are ones you will see in many places in the UK. They are used to denote National Trails and long-distance footpaths of England and Wales.

  5. Love the feeling of distance in your first photo. the second is intriguing wondering what there is to discover. A very nice iron gate and a lovely old original wooden fence.

  6. Hi Mitch! I like all your shots for this week's theme but that of the gate in the rain is really beautiful. The rain drops on the wrought ironwork make it be a very special photo....
