Thanks for hosting Mitch. Will have to see what little Switzerland has for big.

We have big mountains. This one is from the Jura mountains that I caught just before we turned left for the supermarket. We have had no snow, but up there it snowed.

This tree grew so tall that the mistletoe moved in as it had enough room

Hi everyone, this is Mitch, and I'll be your host this week. It's been quite a week!! The UK has experienced a couple of the biggest storms in many years this week. On Wednesday winds of up to 108mph were recorded. Thankfully no flooding or damage where I live (unlike many parts of the UK), but I did lose my internet connection for 24 hours. Over in the US, some of the biggest ice-storms and blizzards for many years are piling on the misery there too. Anyway, that got me thinking.....in a week of many BIGS....why not have 'BIG' as the theme!!

'BIG' is such an open theme, there can be sooooooo many different interpretations. Have fun and show me many different types of big. You can post up to 4 photos for this theme.

1) Big cat....with big teeth!!
Bengal Tiger 1

2) Big buildings in New York City
Highrise

3) Big smile.....and belly!!
Stretch

4) Big plane waiting to take me home

Picture This #237 ~ Flowers

Thank you Heidi for a very colourful theme,
it seems as if all has embraced it with great enthusiasm.

Fantastic Banner from Belita, smack in the eye with the tree and
off centre with lovely blue sky and wispy clouds. I love it .

So what is growing in a garden in Johannesburg this summer?

The man is growing zinnias

My white bougainvillea is flowering casting shade on my vegetable patch

I have no idea what these are called, but they were growing wild in the forest, so we dug some up and tried at home, they only flower once a year
Flowers 2

The red Bougainvillea is flowering hanging over the wall next door, I covet that bush, wish it was mine
Flowers 3

There are flowers everywhere, on trees and bushes and borders, no wonder they call Johannesburg an Urban Forest:-
There are six million trees in Johannesburg. On satellite pictures, the city looks like a rain forest, albeit man-made. There are 1.2 million trees within the parks and on the pavements and 4.8 millions in private gardens throughout the suburbs.

Congratulations to Belita for having her photo selected for this week's banner.

My Rhodendron blossoms every June. I shot this flower in progress.

This hydrangea blossom in progress was taken in Pardee Rose Garden, New Haven, CT

This dahlia was taken in the same location.

The last flower is from my Rose of Sharon in my yard.

Sorry I'm rather late posting this week, and also late putting up the banner, but I've been visiting my folks for a few days, as I missed seeing them at Christmas due to my illness.

Many thanks to Heidi for hosting this week's challenge. A wonderful theme she's chosen.....I'm surprised I didn't think of this theme myself, considering I take more flower shots than just about anything else!!! LOL.

Here are mine, all taken at Upton Castle Gardens last year on the same day:

#237 Flowers

Without a flower in sight, I had to dive into the files for this one. That is almost as fun as shooting the photos themselves.
Reliving the moments and seeing them all over again.
Well then on with some flowers.

What a wonderful theme, Heidi. You are right, it has been a long cold winter and many of us are longing for the cheer of flowers. In my case, I have gone to chase the flowers and have a couple from the Venice, Florida orchid show.
