Picture This #333 ~ Urban Equipment

Pat, your banner shot is haunting. The first time I saw it I knew it was something special.

Belita, this was an interesting theme. It had me stretching but that is good. Here are my takes on "Urban Equipment".

Cherry picker
This is called a "cherry picker", the upper part of a truck used to trim tall trees.

Market

A non-equipment picture. I was going to go B/W, but I liked the colors.

>Abandoned
Same spot as above,  back of abandoned grocery store.

Manhole cover
Manhole cover.

  1. I very much like the back of the grocery store, more urban art than equipment. Manhole covers have interesting designs, especially when weathere. Cherry picking is done by ladder here, but we have such lifts for cutting branches off trees in the higher places.

    1. See my comment to Belita below. It's just called a "cherry picker" but is a lift for cutting tall branches.

    1. Hi Benni! Giving you 'headache' has never been my intention. My apologies... I just intended to mark the end of the year with a not very common theme... That cherry picker is very functional though from another angle, it reduces demand for workers and consequently doesn't help the creation of working posts. That's the problem with the introduction of many other machines... As Pat has mentioned, we use such equipment to trim trees. Love your second and third shots... most people would never look at those and you did it with a very successful result... Very nice logo of the manhole. Is that for telephone services?

    2. Oh no!! I never meant to say you gave me a headache. It was a great theme to make me think. I thank you for it.

"Cherry picker" is just the name of the machine used to trim trees, which is what that man was doing. Cherries are still picked by hand. I am glad you liked the market pictures, and, yes, the manhole is for telephone service.

  3. Hi Benni !! Great shots for Belita's theme. Good shot of the Cherry-Picker. Makes you wonder how it came by that name, as they are not used in the picking of cherries, as far as I know!! Great shots of the abandoned grocery store. I think the B&W does work better. Manhole covers are one of those things that everyone sees nearly every day, without actually 'seeing' them, if you know what I mean.
