Here I am, sleepy in the morning. Happy to see my yellow house as banner picture. Wonderful theme, I see all sorts of things and like to take pictures of them.

I see the moon over the tops of trees.

I saw these unusual mushrooms in a dry field. They were determined to come up, misshapen and flecked with soil.

Many thanks to Belita for hosting this week. An intriguing theme, that could be interpreted many different ways!!  I think that what makes a good photographer is recording the 'things they saw' where others may not have even seen things. I think that's true of all the members of this group. My entry is an example of that. When visiting the Grand Canyon most folks spend all their time looking at the spectacle of the canyon itself, and in so doing may miss other things, if only they had looked. All my shots were taken within a few yards of the canyon rim. 

1) A traditional Hopi communal house.

2) A piece of petrified wood.

3) A ground-squirrel.

4) A traditional smokehouse chimney.

Good morning from Lisbon, where the temperature is still high at this early hour! How lucky I am to host this week's Challenge!!! Why? You may wonder... I tell you the reason: I think of myself as a bit superstitious and I believe palindromic numbers bring good fortune. It's the case with PT number of this week... 363!!!

Even though, my choice of theme has nothing to do with numbers, superstitions, either, but it relates to THE THINGS I SAW. We are permanently seeing things but only a few are captured by our cameras. I'm curious to see 'your things'. Please show them to us...

I saw all the things in Lisbon

This display caught my attention for the delicate porcelain figures and the copper wares that are not delicate at all.

Interesting and very logical display... Cats and sardines...

The arrangement of the wicker basket and the corn stalks tied together reminded me Autumn is coming soon...

Intentionally, the red tulips are at the bottom, not because I don't like the shot. On the contrary, I love it. The last is always the best...

Many thanks to Pat for hosting this week. A great theme, with lots of possibilities. My first thought was to post several photos of me!!! LOL. On second thoughts, maybe not!! I usually tend to use photos of the many castles here in Wales for this kind of theme, so decided to use some different ones for a change. All buildings still, but no castles. 

1) Aberglasney House, Carmarthenshire, Wales. Originally built more than 500 years ago, and has been rebuilt several times over the centuries. Unoccupied since the early 1950's, it was subject to restoration of both the house and it's gardens in the late 1990's. The central section of the house received only minimal restoration, was covered with a glass roof and turned into a 'ninfarium', housing a large collection of exotic plants including orchids.

2) Forgotten farmhouse in the valley of the River Towey, Carmarthenshire, Wales. Not sure of it's age, but most definately older than 50 years!!

3) Thatched cottage in the village of Cenarth, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Dates back approx 400 years. Is now a coffee-house serving refreshments to tourists visiting the nearby waterfalls.

4) Ruins of a fortified manor house, Cresswell Quay, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Dates back more than 500 years.

I have now returned from England since a week and gradually getting back to my normal state of affairs after 6 months of stress and not knowing where it was all leading too. Now I am settled and can concentrate on I, me and myself for a change.

I actually stole the theme from one of my challenges in WordPress, but found it was something completely different. Anyone here older than 50 years is welcome to do a selfie. Anyhow here are my photos.

This is Waltham Abbey in the country of Essex in England which I visited when in England. The original building was some time at the beginning of the century and they say that King Harold is buried there (the guy that was defeated by the Normans in 1066) but they have not yet found his bones. There is just an empty grave there.

Today Mr. Swiss and I had lunch in a restaurant and ate outside in the garden. They had a relic of our old chair lift on the local mountain Weissenstein. It was replaced last year with a gondola. This original chair lift was built in 1950.

And who remembers these old tape decks. I took the photo in a museum in Solothurn where I live where they have a collection of older electronic equipment, including computers.

Thanks, Benni, for the PEACEFUL theme. The latest terror attacks in Europe and the recent episodes of violence in the USA make us cry for Peace...

My interpretations on this week's theme show you some aspects of my understanding about what Peace is...

If I happen to find a cat having a nap, I always think he's enjoying a state of peace

Many thanks to Benni for hosting this week. A great theme, and one that is much needed after the world has suffered such a turbulent week. 

Here are mine:

1) Bryce Canyon, Utah. Has to be the most peaceful place I've ever visited. At just over 9000ft elevation, the air is clean, crisp and the silence is only broken by the slight rustle of breeze through trees and the occasional bird-call. I think I could quite happily live here and just go into town once a week for supplies!!

2) This pair of Capybara are looking quite peaceful as they snooze on a sunny afternoon.

3) There is nothing quite so peaceful as a walk alone in the forest.

4) This Nene Goose was having a very peaceful sleep in the sun.
