Picture This #246 ~ Street Scenes

Many thanks to Heidi for hosting the challenge this week, particularly as it was at short notice coz I forgot to organise it!! LOL.  A really good theme she has chosen, one I'm sure everyone will have shots for.

I have concentrated in the last couple of years more on nature photography, so I had to go further back in my archive for some 'street scenes'. Here are mine:

1) Enjoying a drink and good company on a sunny afternoon.
Good Company B&W1

2) New York street scene. World famous Macy's department store in the background. But it was the yellow cabs pulling away from the stop-sign like the start of a race that caught my attention!!
And They're Off

3) I don't think this girl liked the smell coming from the food-vendor, judging by the way she was holding her nose!!
Something Smells

4)  New York streets......scene from above!!

  1. I think the girl might be trying to suppress a sneeze? The yellow taxis. I miss them. Were they racing? The old folks. They seem happy and enjoying themselves. Great shots.

    1. Thanks Nik :-)) No, I don't think the girl was holding back a sneeze. I think those three yellow cabs may well have been racing. All three shot away from the stop-light like it was the start of a grand prix!! LOL.

  4. Lov them all, especially the b/w effect you have in a couple. New York is always a street to remember, if fully of skyscrapers or yellow taxis, you caught the atmosphere very well.

  5. Love the top shot especially, with the wonderful expressions both in facial features and postures. New York! Great city, you have captured an iconic shot with the yellow cabs. Love the girl at the vendor and also the shot from above.

  6. Hi Mitch! Four fabulous shots for Heidi's theme. After looking and looking at the four, I can say that the top one is my favourite... love the expression of the gentleman...

  7. "Did you hear that George got caught stealing knickers in a lingerie shop - AGAIN! That guy is incorrigable."

    "One...two..three...LET'S GO!"

Indeed it does look like it.

Maybe there is song about the Streets of New York as well as London.

    1. Not sure about that, but if we're looking for an appropriate song.....as many/most of the streets in NY are numbered rather than named....how about U2's "Where The Streets Have No Name"? LOL

    2. There's 42nd Street and The Lullaby of Broadway. I like U2's Where The Streets Have No Name. There's billy Joel's "New York State of Mind." Alicia Key's "Empire State of Mind."

  8. Mitch, your black and white photos are excellent. I love the grouping of people sitting outdoors. I wonder if that woman closing her nose is getting a whiff of a smell coming from the grates in the sidewalks. Maybe it is the food vendor's truck. Now I understand your comment in my photo on the yellow cabs. They certainly race once the light turns green. Great aerial shot of the city.
