PICTURE THIS #271 ~ LOOKING LIKE A POSTCARD

CONGRATULATIONS, BAZ, FOR THE VERY NICE PHOTO BANNER!

Hi all  PT fellows! Belita here and I’ll be your host for this week. Whenever I travel outside Portugal, I always send postcards to a few friends. Nowadays, people seldom open their conventional mailboxes and find cards from friends, relatives, etc. So, I have chosen the theme ‘Looking like a postcard’. This is a theme with endless possibilities: animals, flowers, street scenes, means of transport, etc, etc.
I look forward to seeing the variety of photos that you think look like postcards.

  1. Hi Belita, what a wonderful and creative theme!! I am excited.

Your picture of Riga is beautiful, from the bridge to the spires into the clouds. I love the street scene with the taxis, so many shades of brown and of course the interesting people. Is that a canal in Klaipeda? The boat is wonderful and the people fishing. Very much like a postcard. I had never heard of this city before. My favorite is the women in the folk costumes. The clothing is lovely and the facial expressions so interesting that I want to move closer to hear what they are talking about. Reminds me of my husband's mother and aunts.

    1. Thanks, Benni! Klaipeda is Lithuania's only seaport and that is a canal.

  4. Hi Belita!! Many thanks for hosting this week!! A really good theme!! Your shots are all super. I really like the contrast between the new bridge and the old town in the first shot. The Riga street-scene in the second shot is almost a natural sepia-tone. Beautiful old sailing ship in the third shot. Very colourful costumes in the final shot. Is that the national costume of Lithuania?

    1. My pleasure, Mitch! I am not sure but I suppose so. I took the photo on the day Lithuania was celebrating the 25th anniversary of the so-called Baltic Way...

  5. Really something completely dirfferent and they are all good in their own right but I particularly like the street scene in Riga. So something completely different and the tones of the photo suit the subject so well.
