Picture This #271 ~ Looking Like A Postcard

Many thanks to Belita for hosting this week. A great theme, with many possible variations. Looking forward to seeing some beautiful shots!! I am continuing to try to use shots I've not used before on previous themes (although the locations themselves I may have  used before), wherever possible. All my shots this week were taken in 2010.

1) The magnificent sandstone formations of Zion National Park, Utah.
Magnificent Zion 4

2) Inside the walls of Manorbier Castle, Pembrokeshire, Wales
Inside The Walls 1

3) Calico Hills, Mojave Desert, Nevada.
Calico 5

4) Laugharne village, Carmarthenshire, Wales, as seen from the top of Laugharne Castle.

  2. Lovely postcards Mitch. I especially like the one of Laugharne village. That would definitely be a best seller in the village shop.

    1. Thanks Pat :-)) Laugharne is quite a compact little village. It's also the place where poet Dylan Thomas did a lot of his writing.

  3. Hi Mitch! What a great selection of photos for the theme. I would love to receive all of them, not one, only... However, if you ask me which of the four is my favourite, I would not hesitate to say... the one of Laugharne village...

  4. Fantastic shots! That first one is my favorite of this set.

    Beautiful old castle walls!

Such interesting terrain in the third shot! DO you hike in that area? Looks treacherous!

Pretty rooftops and amazing clouds in that last one! Love the bit of green fields in the background. So nice!

    1. Thanks Debby :-)) There are a lot of hiking trails in the Calico Hills, but I didn't do any that day. Joanne and I were visiting the area primarily to see Red Rock Canyon, which was immediately behind me as I was taking that shot.

  5. Hi Mitch, wonderful shots. I particularly like the sandstone formations of Utah, so evocative of the old West, peaceful and dreamy.

    1. Thanks Benni :-)) Zion National Park has a amazing collection of sandstone formations, many of which are HUGE!!. I don't think my photos really convey just how big they are.

    1. The thing I like best about Manorbier Castle is that they've let the wildflowers grow and flourish within the castle walls, unlike many other historical sites.
