Picture This #274 ~ Fruit and/or Vegetable

This is a great theme for harvest time, although all of my pictures are from Florida. Wonderful banner shot by Randall; looking at it I saw the detail of a man on the rightmost boat showing through the sail. It's just great and I am sorry I didn't see it when I first looked at the picture.

I love vegetables, but my pictures are all fruits.

Papaya

Loquats
Loquats. These trees are popular in Florida, but I do not know if the fruit is edible.

  1. Some great photos.. Papayas and Loquats are not something we ever see growing on trees in Switzerland, great captures. The desert in the third photo looks very inviting.

  4. Hi Benni !! Love your shots for Pat's theme. I didn't realise papaya grew in the US, I thought they were only found in Asia and the far east. Great shot of the papaya tree. Nice colourful shot of the Loquats. Not a fruit I'm familiar with. I wonder if they are related to Kumquats? Your last shot looks really yummy...I could just eat that right now!!

    1. Hi, Mitch, and thanks. Many people bring plants from all over the world to grow in Florida, which any botanist can tell you is a bad idea. I don't think loquats are related to kumquats, which I think are a citrus fruit. But not sure.

  5. Hi Benni! Great shots for Pat's theme! In Portugal, the fruit of the Loquat tree that we call Nêspera (Loquat Japanese medlar) is very popular here and normally markets have it in springtime. I never miss having them when it's the season...

    1. I would add that the texture of the fruit is not very different from that of apricots.

    2. Yes, loquats are fuzzy, like apricots. This year I will see if they have them at the farmers' market. Thank you for your kind words. :-)

  6. The papaya tree is so bright! I had no idea what a papaya tree looked like. I'm so glad you posted this one. So pretty!

I don't think I've ever tasted a loquat but they sure look yummy!

The last one is my favorite. Yum! a cup made of chocolate! That's what I'm talking about! ;)

  8. Yes, Debby, cups made of chocolate! I am sure they sell them in NY. There used to be a shop that sold them here in Michigan, one size for cordials, one size for fruit or cremes. Yum! Glad you like my pix.
