Picture This #407 ~ Light

Thanks for hosting Benni, and a very good banner photo by Mitch

Congratulations, Mitch, for the banner image that I really like. Love the light and the 'sound' of the waves striking against the cliff...

Many thanks to Benni for hosting this week. A great theme, one that I never get tired of because light plays so important a part of photography and can make the difference between an ordinary photo and a special one.

1) This is a shot I took a week ago, it's the one that inspired Benni to choose light as a theme.

2) This shot was taken at Valley Of Fire, Nevada. Sunlight shining on a bush, seen through a hole in the sandstone rocks.

3) Another one I took last week. A back-lit blue poppy.

4) An old favourite of mine. I know I've posted it several times before, but it's just perfect for this theme. Back-lit waterfall in Zion National Park.

Welcome to Picture This!!
Wonderful banner shot by Mitch of the sea slowly but ever so surely demolishing the stone cliff. Actually it was another picture of Mitch's (you can see it on FB; the backlit grass) that inspired this week's theme: Light.  Light is such a basic element of our picture-making that we often don't think about it. Backlight, direct light, reflected light and so forth are what we use to make our photographs.
Here are mine:

Picture This #406 ~ Dismantling/Demolition

Many thanks to Anders for hosting this week. An interesting theme, and one we definitely haven't done before. I had to hunt around in my archives for some shots for this theme, and then I couldn't get into my Flickr account!! Seems to be ok again now.

1) This used to be a popular hotel in Tenby, here in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It was badly damaged in a fire and had to be demolished.

3) I saw this old shed/barn on a desert road in the middle of nowhere in the Mojave Desert. Looks like it's on it's last legs!!

Wonderful banner picture from Belita, loved this when I first saw it. Thanks for hosting Anders.

I live in a demolished, dismantled world at the moment as our block of apartments is being completely renovated and naturally I am constantly taking photos. At the moment I have 5-600 photos so have a small problem choosing which photos to show here. I will not title them individually as they are self explanatory.

Picture This #406 ~ Dismantling/Demolition

I had a surprising number of pictures for this theme. But I whittled it down to four.

Old barn
Wooden barn being demolished by the elements.

Backhoe
A backhoe dismantling our front lawn to put in an improved underground cable.

Caspersen
More noisy machinery demolishing a building at Caspersen Beach. This was an old changing house. The new changing house is on stilts up 3 stories high, too much for me to climb after a day in the sun, so I don't use it.

Shed
I know I have posted this before. This is my neighbor's shed after a tree fell through the roof. They sawed it partly off and then removed the whole thing. I never liked this shed so I was just as glad which I am sure is wicked of me.

Great banner by Belita!

Greetings and welcome from Sweden - this is  Anders and I'm hosting this week.

These photos show parts of the gradual stone by stone dismantling of the chimney of the Helsingborg Rubberboot factory.
