Picture This #235 ~ Playing With Light

Many thanks to Benni for hosting this week's challenge. It's a great theme, I love playing around with light in my shots, in many different ways. This should be an easy theme for everyone, so no excuses!!! LOL.

1) Sunlight through a Blue Poppy. Taken at Picton Castle Gardens, Wales.

2) Winter sun through a piece of ice . I took the ice out of a water-trough for the semi-wild ponies of St Govan's Headlands, here in Wales. Wasn't an easy shot to take.....hold the camera in one hand, the ice in the other, and try not to shake from the cold. LOL.
Nice Ice Baby

3) Sunlight through a Gunnera leaf.  Taken at macro level so all the fine detail of the leaf can be seen.

  3. Hi Mitch. Absolutely fabulous shot of the blue poppy and the translucent petals. At first I thought there was dripping water in the background, but looking closer, I see it is the hairs on stems brought out by the light. Your ice picture is magnificent, with both a dark background as well as the sun shining through. And finally that wonderful leaf, with all the detail, veins, shadows, textures. Wow.

    1. Thanks Benni :-)) Yes, the little light-shards are hairs on the stems of taller ones. The good thing about Gunnera is that they are so huge, you can stand under one of it's giant leaves and get pics like that :-))

  4. Lovely photos Mitch. The transparency of the blue flower, the ice reflection and the vibrant green of the leaf.

  5. I wonder there will ever come the day I see your photos, and I dislike even one, only. These three are simply lovely... the fragility and colour in the first, the subject (who would think of taking a photo of that piece of ice!) in the second shot and the fine detail of the leaf in the third, make them all my favourites.
