Picture This #234 ~ Sculptures Or Statues

All three of these were taken in December at Brookgreen Gardens in Murells Inlet, on the coast of South Carolina USA
It was difficult for me to pick just three...

  1. Wow, is that top one gold? It's incredible!! The fountain horses are really majestic and I love the three women gracefully lounging. What a great shot.

  2. I have no idea what the top one is, it looks like gold but I can't imagine it would be in the garden unprotected if it was??? The second one is aluminum and the last is bronze.

  4. Hi Danette!! Three great shots for this week's theme. The first one does make you wonder. I doubt it is even gold-plated, even that might be too much of a temptation to thieves. Perhaps just painted a gold-colour? it's a good statue though. I love the middle one. There's a definate sense of movement of the horses rearing up. The bronzes of the women are beautifully crafted, but I'm wondering what the artist was thinking by having them sitting in squares like that. Perhaps they are meant to represent windows?

    1. I have no idea why the girls are in squares, other than to hold them up in a unique way?

  5. They are just lovely and each has a fascinating individuality. The gold impresses in the first one, the statue in the fountain is very good and the last is a sculptural wonder. Love it.

  6. I love the movement in the horses. Such a dramatic sculpture. The last photo of the women is beautifully arranged.
