Picture This #220 ~ At A Distance

Many thanks to Pat for hosting this week's challenge. Her theme is a really good one, with so many possible interpretations that everyone should be able to find something to post!!

As a lot of my more recent photography has been at 'a close distance', I've gone further back in my archive to find some more distant shots. I've posted a lot of landscapes of my travels in the US previously, so this time I'm using ones taken more locally to me. And just to add a bit of colour, they were all taken at sunset.

1) Cleddau River, with docks in the distance.
Pastel Sunset 5

2) March Of The Metal Monsters
March Of Progress 1

3) Carew Mill, with frozen millpond.

  4. I just love that second photo, sort of march of the giants. the effects of the colour in the background are great. The first is a wonderful capture, a bit of everything. The third is one of those where I can say "wish I was there", wonderful capture of the light on the ice and water surface.

    1. Thanks Pat :-)) It's not often I photograph something as industrial as electricity pylons, but with that sunset-coloured sky behind them it reminded me of H.G.Wells' 'War Of The Worlds' for some reason!!

  6. Three beautiful shots for the theme, Mitch! Gorgeous colours of the sky in the three photos. That light on in the 1st shot enhances the beauty of the shot. Beautiful tree silhouettes in the second... my favourite? The 3rd for the light and the reflections...

  7. The lighting is soft and the colors subtle in all three yet they each evoke a different feeling! Beautiful captures!

March of the metal monsters...what a great caption. I love the sepia tones. Is that natural or edited?

    1. Thanks Debby :-)) My original title for that shot was 'March Of Progress', but I changed it as I like this title better. It's entirely natural colour, no editing.
