Picture This #222 ~ Windows

Hi everyone, this is Mitch. I'm sorry but you're stuck with me as host for another week. I'm trying to organise a new rota for hosts, but am a bit disorganised at the moment. Hopefully things will be back to normal next week.

Ok, this week's theme is 'Windows'. No, not the Microsoft product!! I mean those glass things for looking outside when you're indoors, and vice-versa. This should be an easy theme for everyone, as windows are everywhere!!! No excuses for not taking part!! LOL.

Here are mine:

1) The letters that form the words on the front of the Wales Millenium Centre in Cardiff are actually windows!!

2) Stained-glass window depicting St Samson, Caldey Island Monastery, Wales
Stained Glass St Samson

3) Many windows reflected in many more windows. New York City.

  1. Great theme, great banner!! When I told my husband the theme was windows, he said I should post the "blue screen of death", which is the screen you get when running Windows and your computer crashes. I declined. Anyway, I am on a Mac.

Your pictures are an interesting blend of modern and ancient. I love the Millennium Centre and how clever of them to use the windows as they have. Your next picture is almost haunting in the way the light comes through the stern looking St. Samson. My favorite is the reflection of windows in windows in New York. I like both the reflections as well as the facade of the building.

    1. Thanks Benni :-)) I did wonder if anyone would go for something based on the Windows operating system, like a photo of the Windows logo on a computer screen!! LOL.
What I'd really like to do is get photos of the Millenium Centre at night, when the windows/words are all lit up.

  4. I like being stuck with you for a week on picture this, no problem. The first photo is very individual and interesting.I like the second which reminds me I should also go hunting for some stained windows, I rarely go to a church. I very much like the windows from NYC even reflecting the Chase Manhattan bank (I think)

    1. Thanks Pat :-)) Yes, the reflection in the third shot is of Chase Manhattan Bank (I think it's just called 'Chase' these days)

  5. I love this theme. For some reason windows are an architectural element that I am drawn to.
Your windows show us just how diverse and magnificent they can be :)

    1. Thanks Nico :-)) The Millenium Centre is in the Cardiff Bay area, rather than in the old part of the city. It is almost next door to the Synedd building (Welsh Assembly Government building).

  8. Windows and doors have always fascinated me... Mitch, your three shots, are excellent captures of windows and how the diversity of their designs and materials make them be distinctive elements of a building's appearance style. Love the first the one....

  9. Mitch, I love all three. The windows in the Wales Millenium Center are innovative. The stained glass window in the monastery is a beautiful depiction of religious art. I do have photos of stained glass windows but they're taken from a distance. It seems that you could zoom in with your lens or that it is close enough to view.
New Your City is a treasure trove for photographing. I like the windows in the building.

    1. Thanks Robert :-)) That stained-glass window was in a tiny chapel away from the main monastery buildings, so I could stand very close to it to get my photo.
