Picture This #255 ~ Your Life/Your Neighborhood

Thank you to all who complimented my banner picture; I am so pleased you like it. And thank you to Heidi for a great theme. It's a good way to get to know each other better.

Looking outside this morning, I saw that maybe I had best do some work before the trees take over the back garden.

The Board of Water and Light Building downtown, it was designed to look like a flame, with darker bricks below leading up to yellow bricks on top.

Two months out of the year, my life is in Florida by the Gulf of Mexico.

  1. Hi Benni !! Not only is your photo the banner this week......this post is also the 1000th post on 'Picture This' since it moved here to Blogger after Multiply closed!! A bit of a landmark!!
Three great shots for Heidi's theme. Your garden looks lovely and green, doesn't look like it needs much attention. I love the colour gradation on that building in the second shot. The shot of the ocean in the last shot is great......perfectly captured foamy spray as it hits the rocks.

    1. Hotdog, you are right, the 1000th post.

I did spend a bit of time hacking away out there. The wild grape climbs up those saplings and chokes out everything. But thanks to your astute observation, I won't do much more. :D

  2. Hi Benni! Lovely garden you have! Interesting architecture in the second shot... nice colours! As soon as I saw the third shot, that wave, reminded me of the Japanese ukyoe great wave, though it's not so great as that one... Your garden is my favourite...

    1. Thank you so much. My garden is a bit tidier today, but still green. I have been wondering, Belita, why I liked the wave in that picture and you have put your finger on it. It reminds me as well of the Japanese ukyoe. We both seem to be drawn to the sea.

    1. Thank you, Nico, sadly I only live near the sea for part of the year, but it is in my soul.

  5. You have a great view from the window. The bulding is very interesting. I would love to live by the sea, but in Switzerland we have no sea, just a few lakes. 3 wonderful pictures.

  6. I love you banner photo, Benni

The green, green grass of home! So pretty! Is that ailanthus (tree of heaven) growing outside of your window? Significant because it is the tree in "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn." I keep expecting to come across one, and I haven't yet.

I love the different shades of brick in your building.

The seascape is captivating! I love the motion you've captured.
