Lynda's Picture This #206 ~ City, Town, or Countryside

It's no secret I'm a country gal 100% but lately sure have been seeing a lot of country from the inside of a vechicle.  These three photos were taken from the inside of a moving vechicle (speed limit of 70-75 mph) as I was reading my camera manual and playing with settings.  All photos were taken June 30th as we returned home from a memorial service for my uncle with Nikon D7000, 18-200 mm lens.

West Texas Along Highway 84

The first photo is my favorite.  Taken early in the morning looking east-south east.  Window down, camera hand held.  Photo edited, enlarged, and cropped on Adobe Photoshop Elements 11.

My next photo was taken through the front window of the moving vehicle.  Photo was edited, enlarged and cropped on Adobe Photoshop Elements 11.

My last photo was also taken through the vechicle front window....very quickly.  I saw the pink barn with the windmill shadow and felt lucky to have gotten the shot through he window without bug splatters in the photo.  As with photos above edited, enlarged and cropped on Adobe Photoshop Elements 11.

I have had little time for photo things online this summer --- which means I am staying busy, outside a lot and enjoying life outside the cyber world.

Happy Trails Everyone

  2. Hi Lynda!! It's great to see you back and joining in this week :-)) Sorry, I had to reduce the photo sizes by one step as they were overflowing onto the right-rail. Three great shots!! My fave is the first one, I love the combination of elements and the density of them. The car in the second shot is great for giving scale, you can see just how big those turbines are. Good fast-snap of the barn, you caught that shadow of the windmill just right!!

    1. Sorry about you having to resize. When I did preview it didn't over flow so I thought it was OK. What size is best for this site. On flicker, medium 800 by 337 was what I chose. I don't like the new changes Flicker has made. I don't use it any more except for your group.

    2. And behind the car is a train. It looks tiny next to the turbines.

    3. It was no problem to resize, just one click per photo did it. The optimum width for photos is 640, that keeps the photo from going over into the right-rail.

I'm surprised so many people are saying they don't like the changes to Flickr. Personally I think it's great!! All the old features are there, but it now looks a lot better. I wouldn't swap it for sites like Photobucket for anything. It's still the best site around.

    4. For me the "old" flicker was easier to use. I have trouble learning new things when sites change. Almost gave up posting here. If we resize with a photo program and lower the resolution, is that acceptable here without using a photo sharing site?

I haven't been blogging or anything like that this summer. Never did get my Blog Site set correctly to readers only so I gave up on that. Muzenews is "almost dead". Posted June 24 after I had been absent for a while to friends only and have had 4 comments. Haven't even been participating in Picture Perfect or Images and Words.

    5. There's actually very little difference between the 'old' and 'new' Flickr. It still works in pretty much the same way, it just has a different look.

Size/resolution isn't the only factor I have to consider unfortunately. Blogger has an upload limit where photos are uploaded directly to the site, and it's not very big. I prefer photos to be posted using HTML from photo-hosting sites, as it keeps our upload usage to a minimum. I'd really like you to continue to take part, but I would prefer it if you used the HTML code from Flickr. If you have problems with sizing, I can always make an adjustment after you've posted, like I did with this one.

    6. I looked and found what size I need to do for this site so down loading from flicker is no problem for me -- now to remember!!! Probably won't participate for awhile as we have a very busy month of July planned.

  6. Hi Lynda!! It's marvelous what you were able to get from a moving vehicle. Like some of the others, the first shot is my favorite, with the jungle of wind turbines and power structures. I also like the coloring of the blue shot next, and the pinkish barn with the shadow of the wind mill is marvelous. Forgive my late comments please.

  9. Very nice all of them, Lynda. YOu must have gotten a nice new camera, taking these out a window of a moving vehicle. Quite a feat.

  10. I like the first one of the power lines and windmills best, but they're all nice shots. I like the shadow of the windmill against the barn.

  11. A cruising photo shoot. LOL I like the wind mill and wires. I see a lot of that here too. Kind of a cool shot for some reason.
