Picture This #209 ~ The Photos That No-One Wanted

What a clever suggestion. There are many photos in my folders that I would think twice before I shared them but since we are on this theme, here they are.
The first photo is a turkey that was judged in the poultry competition at the Durham Fair. I just wanted to photograph it.

Another photo from this fair was the prize pumpkin judged as the largest.

The last photo was a disappointment for me. I was trying to capture the sunlight in this tidal pool in Gloucester, MA.

  1. Great capture of the turkey, hope he survived as being the best. The pumpking is ready to burst at the seams - good shot. The pool has its charm with the shades of the sun.

    1. I wondered if the turkey survived after the fair. I was impressed with the size of the pumpkin. I thought the last image could have been better.
      Thank you, Pat.

  2. Hi Robert!! Three good shots for Pat's theme!! That turkey is a handsome fellow, you can see why he was the winner. Wow, that pumpkin is huge!! Very pale though, looks more like Plaster-Of-Paris than vegetable. LOL. Nice shot of the tidal pool, it still looks good with the sun highlights in the rocks.

    1. Hi Mitch. I liked how the turkey strutted his plumage in the cage. The pumpkin does look artificial by its paleness. I don't know how the competitors nurture these large pumpkins. Thanks for your comment on the tidal pool.

  3. Hi, Robert. Handsome bird, that turkey. I hope he didn't end up as someone's dinner. Wonderful picture of a pumpkin. I like your tidal pool photograph; the sun on the water is difficult to capture, but you have it on the rocks and plants in the foreground.

    1. Thank you, Benni. Thanksgiving was only a couple of months away from this fair. Who knows if this bird became dinner. Maybe I'm being critical on the last photo. Thanks for your comment.

  6. Wonderful series

    Is he going cool turkey?

The pumpkin to end all pumpkins?

    Lovely and tranquil.

  7. I don't know if he went cold turkey. There were several large pumpkins in this area. The tidal pool is tranquil.
    Thank you.

  8. You have two great examples of why I really enjoy going to state/county fairs!
That pumpkin is quite the specimen, probably not good for pumpkin pie? Wonder what they did with after the fair? The turkey is a healthy look bird, his feathers are groomed nicely. The tidal pool has lots of interest with the rock and reflections :)

  9. No, the pumpkin is definitely not good for pumpkin pie. Don't they have to be sugar pumpkins to make a good pie? Thank you for your comments.
