Picture This #260 ~ Once Upon A Time

Marvelous banner shot, Belita, and a theme that is an invitation to tell stories.

Gate on St. Joseph's Lake
Once upon a time I found this gate on a lake in Indiana. I have never been able to learn more about it. But it seems an enchanted place.

Cottage
Once upon a time, I found this little unused cottage.

Pelican in tree
Once upon a time a pelican decided to land in a tree.

  2. Hi Benni !! Great shots for Belita's theme!! I've always been fascinated by your photo of the 'gateway to the lake'. Maybe it's because it's purpose still remians a mystery, i like to dream up reasons for it's existence. It would make a great theme photo for Anders' FB group "100 Word Writing Challenge", would love to see what folks came up with. Lovely shot of the unused cottage, I like at little pool of warm sunlight falling on it. I imagine that you don't often see pelicans in trees......more of a sea/ground hugger.

  3. Hi Benni! Awesome shot of that gate, the light making it look as if it is a pathway to the other side (at least this is how I see it), the photo of the cottage other than its beautiful warm light is a good source to imagine many stories, while the pelican in the tree looks very proud and happy with his observation point...

  4. Thank you all so much. I do, myself, like the picture of the gate, and have spent many hours on Google to try and find out why it is there. The little cottage is on my neighbor's property and their caretaker used to live there. It's abandoned now, maybe animals live in it.

  7. WOW! I love the gate in the water and the little walkway across the water.

Did you peek in the windows when you took the second photo?

The pelican and the tree are beautiful!!!

  8. Baz, Nikhil, Debby, thank you! I didn't peek in the windows of the cottage but I did climb around the gate and onto the island. It was awhile ago, I remember there were wild raspberry plants and flowering vines. Nothing else. But in my imagination. . .
