Here it is Wednesday and I finally have some time to review everyone's photos and research through mine for this theme. I'm indoors today because we are experiencing a heat wave. Heat and humidity make me want to stay indoors.
My first photo is taken of the Mission San Xavier del Bac. It is located south of Tucson. It was established in the 17th century. This isn't the original church.
Here is an interior shot of the dining room in The Mount. This restored home was the American author Edith Wharton's home. It is located in the Berkshires in Massachusetts. Edith's family were part of New York's social life and they spent their summers in Newport, Rhode Island. We were told on our tour that Edith prefered smaller dinner parties.
This last photo is overlooking Nauset Marsh on Cape Cod. The family walked on a trail which lead to this wonderful sight of lupines.
Very interesting tour you just took us on. The inside of the Mount is very colorful. I like the view in the last one too.

ReplyDeleteWonderful! The heat shimmers off your top photo - it is hot here too, 92F/32F. I like the browns, whites and the blue of the sky. Very nice little dinner party set up in your middle picture. The bottom one is absolutely my favorite with the marshy flowers overlooking the Cape. Fairy-like!

I was pleasantly surprised to see lupines growing there. I wanted to make them the subject of the photo.

ReplyDeleteThree lovely shots for the theme. Love the shot of the mission, it's a beautiful building. A very intimate and elegant dining setting in the Wharton home. My favourite shot is the third one. Unusual to see lupines growing so close to marsh land.

DeleteThe mission is beautiful. The interior is very Spanish. The ceiling has murals. Surprisingly we were allowed to take photos inside The Mount. The dining room was my favorite.
Yes, I was surprised to see the lupines growing at this location.

Hi Marianne, the mission is Catholic and it is located on a reservation. The mission happened to be in the land granted to this Native American tribe.
DeleteEdith Wharton's life was interesting. She left the home after her divorce and lived in France the rest of her life.
Everyone has remarked about the location of the lupines. There weren't that many but I thought they make a nice foreground in the image.
